Still getting through watching some grassroots episodes, now olympics finished.

East Coast final was pretty epic in the wild weather with a not quite Don Clarke 1961 goal kick to win it on the final whistle.

    Uawa v TVC.

@stargazer i guess, kees and joseph use to play for southern so there is connection there, think John played for uni

as a few people have pointed out in the comments...some international teams would be happy with that line up

edit: just saw this is for the next two years so Joseph must see himself spending at least a decent amount of time in dunners

He was helping out with Southern this year as well. It was also mentioned he was helping with John McGlashan College too. Seems he lives most of the year in Dunedin and just wants to keep up with hands on coaching. I'd say there must be a clause in his Japanese contract that says he can't have another professional role while contracted to them?

Things are moving on a bit justice wise on the thuggery incidents in Wellington club rugby (or at least one of them anyway).
https://www.stuff.co.nz/sport/rugby/127211366/club-rugby-player-admits-injuring-opponent-in-disgraceful-onfield-brawl#:~:text=A former Wellington club rugby player has admitted,Studd with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

Interesting to note from the offenders Club that they have found deficiencies in the way the Club, it's players, members and supporters have conducted themselves .

Still awaiting outcome details (well ones that we can publish on here) of the incident at Wellington College between MSP and OBU and the one outside the Poneke clubrooms.

A club like that should be put on notice. Any more incidents and you're kicked out of competitions.

This'll mean a lot of players shortages, esp up here in Northland

Vaccination passes to be required for club and college rugby

@machpants I can understand the theory behind it, but at the end of the day, everything is at the whim of the Govt anyway.

But a few of the lower teams struggled with numbers this year, so expect next year will be worse...although I see Marist is looking to start a new 2nd div side, under just Marist, seperate from Old Boys-Marist prems/prems reserves

What a tragedy, politics getting in the way of grassroots sports.

@gunner yep, this is going to seriously hurt rural clubs, for no real benefit.

But can't have special rules for them. Thay can still just run 10 aside comps, which will probably suit clubs struggling for numbers.

Its taking all my inner strength to hold myself back from writing what I really want to write.

I’ve already got a migraine imagining the hoops our clubs are going to be expected to jump through just to play footy.

Is a general election before Christmas possible?

I understand your own club is in a ""green tinged" area (as opposed to the others I have mentioned) and therefore should be exempt
You probably need all the help you can get.... 😉

Shock as talented young rugby player diagnosed with stage 4 cancer

Shock as talented young rugby player diagnosed with stage 4 cancer

Hunter Donghi's family thrown into turmoil, but the community's rallying around them.

Terrible news, I will be doing my best to go the the fundraiser at our Texan's Club next Saturday if I am still here in Napier.
