    @barbarian said in Ashes 2021-22:

@nta Well if the circumstances are as reported (a diner at the table nearby received his COVID positive notification while at the dinner table, and proceeded to inform nearby patrons) that's not the case as presumably Cummins would have had no contact with teammates after that moment.

Seems seriously strange that he was out at dinner at all given what the commentators have been saying about the protocols.

      https://www.cricket.com.au/news/pat-cummins-covid19-close-contact-adelaide-second-ashes-test-england-australia/2021-12-16

Under the current South Australia directives, arrivals from interstate must have a PCR test on arrival - and are required to isolate until that test is taken, with a testing site located directly outside the airport - but they are not required to isolate until they receive the result. That rule was changed on December 10; just a week ago, arrivals were forced to isolate until they got their result.

Cummins isolated as soon as he became aware of the situation and has since had a PCR test, which produced a negative result.

Cricket Australia confirmed **Cummins did not breach any biosecurity protocols**, and it is hoped he will be available to return to lead Australia for the Boxing Day Test at the MCG.

this makes me very angry. i have posted my rant elsewhere

This is very good for England, as now the two best Aussie bowlers are out.

If i was England team management i would be dobbing in Smith and labooshane as well "they were out together honest guv"

              Good catch from Butler earlier

Broad’s appeal on the catch off the pads was borderline. Just ran towards the slips celebrating before finally realising he has to ask the umpire

                Warner very fucking lucky.

For the Ashes can't they get cameras with more frames?

@crucial they said inconclusive whether the ball hit the bat or the pad first.

Although - it looked like it pitched outside leg anyway so in the end it feels like a waste of a lot of time

The gear has to be common across all Test playing nations - apparently those super slowmo jobbies aren't cheap enough for everyone?

                            Stokes is bowling well.
Just peppered with Labuschagne with some good hostile bowling in his last over.

Slow session for Australia. That said, only 25 overs bowled which is still coming up short for a day's cricket.

Harris continues to suck. Khawaja for Boxing Day, thanks.

I am not a great fan of Day-Night tests. They tend to make for dull, slow, conservative Cricket. Results tend to be one-sided too.

Jeepers Harris proves what a waste of space he is once again at this level with a Boycott like innings of three.

What a curious mix of utterly brilliant and utterly dogshit that Australian batting line up is….

Fair to say not the most explosive of starts for the hosts. I want to turn it on and watch but as I’ve just got back home after a few days away for work I’d better not disturb the peace by watching “boring cricket that NZ aren’t even playing in”

EDIT: Actually Harris is the only passenger, the rest are pretty worthy….as are the bowlers.

Poms have bowled really well today. They want to get another 9 wickets before tomorrow's 35+ weather.

Labuschagne gets 50 off thrice as many deliveries. Had some luck but mentally tough overall.
