@chris last time I checked they aren’t bowling 140 consistently on a pitch with some variable bounce at primary school level 😉

Add to that the pressure that was built by the Bangles batting and funny things can happen.

Have a look at the replays of Blundel and Young terrible across the line shots.
You could bowl 10 k and still get out to it,bad batting.

Whatever the result, I would drop Jamieson for Henry, and Southee for Patel for the second test.

Before the usual Southee suspects get all wound up; if you can be left out of a team after taking ten wickets, you certainly can be left out of a team after bowling over after over of military medium right arm mince and cheese. Ditto Jamieson.

We’re not going to see knee jerk reactions.

Granted this performance is several notches below par, but we didn’t make it to the top chopping and changing. This team have performed for a long period of time, they’ll 100% be given the chance for redemption in the next game.

This is like the Ashes - wonderful bowling and awful batting

And in part the reverse when we were in the field. If it had been a Boxing Day test the comments would have been that they'd indulged a bit too much at Christmas... just over three days in the field It was such a flat and insipid effort from bowlers, captain, and fielders.

No way. I don’t want Henry and his pie shop anywhere near the Black Caps. Patel was dropped because they didn’t think they needed a spinner, not replaced by a much inferior player which would be the case if he took over from either of them.

Good Ravindran someone playing the ball on its length.
And playing straight to the variation straight one.

Expect him to get out soon. I have turned the cricket on just to watch him.bat. Never seen him bat before.

Of course not, because Stead. Though it's not a recent one off for Southee and Jamieson - they have (lack of) form from India, and the IPL for Jamieson.

I've spent far too much time baking in the sun over the last few days alongside Southee's pies to be anything other than militant about now...

Annoying because we got our noses in front when we took the lead. That was a pretty unforgivable shot from Young.

Well since we’re at it Latham better go and Jeet Raval better make himself available.

The team has had a mare. The only guys to come away with any credit are Conway and Wags

Bring Rigor and BMac out of the commentary box for Hagley Oval...

    Young has made two 50's.

Taylor and Ravindra could yet come out with some credit.

I'm hoping for something Greatbatch and Sneddon-esque... just not sure about Ross's running...

Can't say i've been impressed by the Black Caps demeanour in this test either - when things aren't going their way getting mouthy and now stalling for time with constant glove changes etc - get on with the fucking game

No need for any changes next test, we have a world class team, we have underperformed on a very flat deck against a well prepared and determined Bangladesh side. This probably shows how much we miss Kane's captaincy more than anything, he sets extremely high standards. I'd say just a glance from him is all that is needed to let you know you need to lift your game. It also exposes Stead who has had 4 days to get his world class performers to pull finger.

We won't even prepare a pitch for Christchurch. Just put some wickets down 22 yards apart in the outfield and roll it a couple of times.
