I find that stuff fascinating. 
Interesting extension of the last bit about Milkdromedans "knowing" that the Universe is static and steady yet we "know" it is the result of The Big Bang is that our understanding is based on our observable universe... Who knows what is going on outside that?

Admiitedly it was a 2001 book and I am sure 'we' have clarified some of the missing info in the last 15 years ... but the one thing it proved to me is the one we can be certain of is that there will always be something more to learn. 
Steady state to Big Bang to Newtonian physics to Relativity to Quantum physics to string theory to dark energy and dark matter ... they're all part of the picture, all interrelated, all correct and all incorrect (or at least incomplete or have holes you could drive a galactic cluster through) all at the same time.

That article is mostly BS and inaccuracies and didn't work as humour. 
 
Actually, lets look at the 'not serving drunk people', hell, every (western drinking country) jurisdiction has that, I've seen drunk people refused to be served in Oz, NZ, the US and the UK.
 
I think he didn't enjoy his visit to Sydney because he's a miserable bastard. 
 
You'd swear you couldn't get a drop of alcohol in Sydney anymore by how much people like the writer whine on about things.
