@voodoo I have watched S1 and half way through S2 of The Detectorists, a cool little show, not hilarious, not overly dramatic, just right, catchy theme tune too.

    Good summary!

    The sight gags are hilarious

Yeah, that was a good summary, I was trying to summarse it to my BIL while staying at my place over the weekend. While flicking through netflix. But did a very bad job of it.

It was quite hard to explain. Best I could do was say the goofy picture tile (Of the white-affro guy) put me off watching it for ages despite it being in my recommendations algorithm, but it was good. A bit like After Life but not sad.

Finished S6 of The Expanse - reportedly the finale.

Gotta watch to the credits to see the potential for a follow-up series, but I think they're done for now.

Have enjoyed it from the first, even if it finishes before the events in the books (the last of which I'm reading now).

    Finished Stay Close.

Probably the best of the Harlan Coben adaptations. Pretty decent watch, with the odd slip into dross but still entertaining, if not earth shattering.

I sort of want to watch this but, well, James Nesbitt.

@catogrande yeah you might wanna give it a swerve. He's very James Nesbittish. Not a bad actor in general but his attempts at being menacing and/or angry are pretty laughable eh.

    @bones

I don’t rate him that much if an actor but it’s more that at one time he was in every other programme the BBC put out and I got sick of his smirking, self satisfied face.

Finished Four Lives (BBC) about serial killer Stephen Port and the associated police cock-ups. Enjoyed it (if "enjoyed" is the word) but got the slight impression it was a bit of a hatchet job in places

Stephen Marchant was outstanding as Stephen Port - brilliant acting..

as well as lack of talent...this is why i wouldn't be a actor, i couldn't act out these horrific things, fictional ones would be bad enough but actually being associated something real and reasonably recent?.....nope

And why does a program/film even need to be made about this? Who the fuck wants to watch 'A day in the life of a creepy enabled paedophile'?

Coogan has said that he had to think very long and hard about doing this. My guess is that the script is more about the coverup than the man character scum himself. In that respect it is good to publicise how this should never happen again.

Yeah I was getting a bit cynical about the program and getting annoyed, thinking the Roz wouldn't be nearly that bad and it was ridiculous - but apparently it's pretty close to the truth, which is fucked up.

One thing that really annoyed me though was them calling it a hate crime.

Yep. Read up about the case and the incompetence of the Police was astonishing and was pretty accurately portrayed. Just a pity the BBC tried to turn it into some sort of gay-rights drama in parts.

@victor-meldrew we can never really know, but it just seemed like outrageous laziness and malaise on the police's part, nor because the victims were gay.

I find it hard to believe that Port was committing hate crime.
