    @voodoo fucking top bloke tho.

Absolutely. Poor Schroder having to follow that!!! I'm embarrassed to be me after listening to that speech.

    Why?

Cos he's so grateful for everything he has, so humble, and so nice.

    And I'm, well, me.

No need to be embarrassed mate. As he said, he hated himself growing up & has had to adapt. Fair play to him, but I doubt he said anything he did to make others feel embarrassed & would probably be ashamed himself, if so.

This won't be popular but that speech was a bit Kanye for me. Yes, you won, but don't forget that today is all about me.

"I'm gonna let you finish, but .... "

Look, I'm not about to publicly shame myself! I'm just saying it was a cool speech and a good reminder to be thankful for all the things we take for granted every day. Seems like a good human to me.

@majorrage the difference being Kanye continues to plague us.

That was Alcott's last appearance in the AO

So what? The winner doesn’t deserve his moment?

    He stole it from him.

    Think that’s a Kanye move.

Well NK is through to a GS final with TK. And they are up against the other two Aussies.

Barty to go through to the womens final tonight would be huge.

Tennis Australia would be loving it after their PR disaster…

Awesome outcome, regardless of views on NK.

Shame Alcott couldn't get it done, the other oke was v good.

First act as Australian of the Year and he loses the Australian Open. Useless fluffybunny.

@dogmeat True. He knows that, though. If he knuckled down, worked hard and eliminated the showboat stuff he'd be in the top 10. But he doesn't want to do that for whatever reason. People get quite frustrated with that, but it's ultimately his call. It's an individual sport and he can do what he likes.

The thing I dislike about him, is that he just doesn't have that desire to win. That fighters instinct. He swings for the fence, and if it comes off it comes off. If not, he'll find someone to blame.

Remember how disliked Lleyton was early on? Then everyone grew to love him because he refused to lose, ever. You had to beat the cnt 3 x on every point.

Kyrios on the other hand has quit more points, games and tournaments than I care to remember. Still could be worse I guess, he could be Bernie Tomic.

so, basically, i don't like him because of what he's not.

That's not him. He's not interested in the level of work, and the change in personality that takes
I'm pretty sure he doesn't even like tennis (who fucking does?)

He makes a sweet living being himself at something he is good at. Without destroying himself to become someone else (because that's what OTHERS want) There is a lesson there for a lot of people

Took me a while to realise he's not wasting his talent, he's maximising it. Being really fucking good at tennis appears to be about 40% having the shots (which Nick has in spades) and 60% having the mental capacity to grind a tournament (which Nick does not have). Make coin entertaining folks.

    Maybe.

But, I'm inclined to think there's a bit of "I'm not going to commit because I might fail", about Nick.

"I didn't study much for the test".

I went to school with lots of those people and was one myself.

    Well that was fun.

Not often I watch tennis but was quite in behind Barty.

Back from 1-5 down in the 2nd to win 6-3 7-6.

Some great shots especially the last cross court winner.

Yank didn't endear herself but I didn't mind that. Had about two supporters in the stands so gave it the full Leyton Hewitt.

Not sure if I can stay up for the doubles, but that could be fun with Kyrgios.

Was a good match and didn't require a dickhead's antics to make it "entertaining". I'm assuming Covid doesn't exist on the court and only reaches into the stadium and elsewhere?

Wow. The crowd knew she was there!!!!

Would love to see some honesty.

At least they weren't booing her in between serves.... Some did boo when she was screaming to hype herself up. I thought that was a little unnecessary, but understandable considering she was playing the hometown girl.

I thought Collins played a very good match. I don't know much about her, her game and her ranking don't seem to match up. Based on what I saw of her she has the potential to be a top 10 player
