Left arm spinner Tim Pringle, son of former Black Cap Chris Pringle, took six for 50 for the New Zealand Development side in the second innings to help set up the win.

Meanwhile, Ryan Bond (13) scored 44 from 30 balls and took two for three for the unbeaten Christchurch Black on day three of the South Island primary schools tournament in Alexandra yesterday.

    Two questions....

    1. Wonder what Chris Pringle thinks of his son being a spin bowler? I'm sure he's proud regardless but it would be like an all black forward having a kid who plays in the backs

    2. Whats 13 year old doing at primary? No wonder he's doing well (at cricket anyway)

Re 2, presumably he was year 8 (formerly Form 2) last year - the tournament's website says it is mainly for boys in years 7 and 8, so there would presumably be a few 13 year olds.

Yeah. Wasnt really a serious Q. My son plays same grade and club reps but they just dont usually refer to it as primary schools

Did ya'll see what the Stars did to the Hurricanes last night?

Maxwell went mental, Stoinis did too, and they scored 273!! Maxwell 154 off 64

The Hurricanes actually went okay and lost by more than a hundred!

@mariner4life Yep - in the Other Cricket thread ๐Ÿ™‚

Halfway through Maxwell's inning, Willie Watson's quote about bowling to Viv Richards being like "bowling in the highlights" came to mind...!

    @donsteppa my bad!

Maxwell in full flight is as fun to watch as anyone has ever been. He's incredibly talented at white ball cricket.

Iโ€™m fairly sure I remember Willie Watson walking โ€œcaught behindโ€ off Warnie when the replay showed he hadnโ€™t even hit it.

If anyone summed up New Zealand cricket in the early 90s post Paddles it was him.

I didn't see the game, but Santner had some fun last night in the Super Smash final. ND didn't even need to play Boult. ๐Ÿ˜‰

One interesting feature of the last few Super Smash games... with the bat, Mitch Santner seems to be slowly evolving into the sort of player Rachin Ravindra was/is meant to be in replacing him ๐Ÿ™‚

Santner and Katene Clarke with the bat were the difference between the teams in the final.

Letโ€™s not mistake Santner the white ball cricketer with Santner the test cricketer, they are two very different things.

Takapuna Pirates won the Auckland T20 comp yesterday in a tense low scoring game vs University.

Were only chasing 130 odd but University had successfully defended low totals all season.

Came down to Taka needing a 4 off the last ball which they got via an inside edge to win with 3 wickets in hand.

Assuming there will be a T20 nationals again so hoping Taka can defend their title and go back to back.

One day final kicking off live on Spark Sport. Right up against one of the few test matches we ahve this summer - shows how much NZC care about this comp.

Two good sides in ND and AK ... go the mighty Blue and White ๐Ÿ™‚

I think I'll choose to watch this one over watching 6 seam bowlers struggling on a flattish one in the test. Should be more interesting until at least we have to bat under scoreboard pressure.

whoops in my house, for sure.

Felt for the poor bastard at fine leg who did everything but catch the ball of Ferguson. Two hands, jolted clear and then got a second hand to it.

Ferguson has been excellent in ODI this year. He's a yard faster than damn near anynoe else (except perhaps Milne)

Auckalnd bowling dominating. CD 187/7 after 43.4 overs.

Ferguson 3/31 off 8.4 -- bowling really well. Arguably the difference at the moment

Auckland win the Plunket Shield after a win over Wellington inside 3 days.

Covid in the ND camp means their game with CD was declared a draw with no play on day 4.
