You just described the books. Every one of them.
I'm 2 episodes in and loving it. So teenager. Wow. Many violent.
I read some of the books, couldn't remember though if he was that far on the spectrum (or had a butterfly in his head), but it is pretty close.
Still enjoyable though

Reacher
I've never read these books. Are they like this? I'm like half an hour in and this is some wish fulfilment shit
Giant good-looking weapon is also super smart and also chicks love him instantly. This is like a teenage wet dream.
Yep. Cool, eh?

Finished Reacher, entertaining first season, loved how he uses a tie. Easy watching, lots of action and dry humour and occasional boobs. Some FX below par, but a fun watch and look forward to a certain season two

Halfway through the last episode and bad guys are about to die in quantity, along with some no-doubt messy shit for the main one.
I'm going to miss this.

It was laugh out loud funny at times. Much better casting, didn't take itself seriously (at times it was lunacy). Amusing and inventive violence, story interesting enough to want to see how it ended.
Wife and I watched it over two evenings, hope they make more.

Apologies if this has been mentioned, but was the entire season of Reacher based on one book?

Yes. So the actor playing Reacher has a job for life...

188cm according to Google, so 6'3"
Still. Fucking unit.

Like @Kirwan, the wife and I binge watched it over the weekend in 2 days.
As a big fan of the books (but less so the recent two where Lee Child has coauthored the books with his Brother), this series is an excellent representation of the books, so much better than the two movies with the midget playing Reacher.
We loved it, the story, the acting, the comedy and yes, the violence which was pretty damn good. Haven't seen that many headbutts in a long time.
Also was quite surprised by the shower scene, very very nice rack!
In terms of which books are covered, technically, whilst it says "Killing Floor", there have been a number of artistic license changes made such as the addition of Frances Neagley who never appeared in Killing Floor. Her first appearance was in Book 6 - Without Fail. It actually has elements from other books as well such as the end scene where his Mother is dying and Reach and Joe visit.
In terms of the actor Alan Ritchson who plays Reacher, according to Wikipedia, he's 1.88 cm which makes him 6'3". He certainly looks bigger in the show and you would think he is 6'5" which is Reacher's stated height.
Beat me to it @NTA

so, the fact it was a play on the fact he mentions his height like 4 times in teh first 2 episodes (details matter) just went straight over everyone's heads aye?
obviously launched it too high. Should have dropped it a couple of inches

if you drop it a foot you might have the Tom Cruise version lol

Yeah. There is no need whatsoever for every character to mention his size. That part started to grate after a while.
Also the camera angles to make him look even bigger but then failed when he would sit down opposite someone that wasn't 'a giant'.
Still, much better than Cruise. -

Likewise. Got back from a skiing trip on Sunday evening and settled down to watch episode1. 4 episodes later we had to leave it as both knackered. Finished it by Monday evening.
Ritchson nails the character IMO, of course the size thing is important (it’s all through each book), but he also really gets the Reacher vibe going.

I've always thought that Child could have made a little bit more use of Neagley in the books. I can't find the quote I have in mind, but this one will do. Anyone who Reacher might find scary is impressive indeed...
Her demeanor suggests that she could be considered a female counterpart to Reacher. Rarely impressed, Reacher describes her as sometimes scary. (https://jack-reacher.fandom.com/wiki/Frances_Neagley)
