Licorice Pizza: I think I hate this movie. I really can't believe it is winning awards and getting critical acclaim. Awful characters, style over substance, a storyline that would be panned by all and sundry if reversed. Good soundtrack as to be expect from a PTA movie.

Early contender for worst movie of the year (TBF last years worst for me came out early in the year too).

    Agreed

    Shit

Was hoping they all went off the cliff as the truck was freewheeling backwards

    The Kings Man

I love the premise and really enjoyed the first one, recapturing the old school fun aspects of “Bond”….but they seem to struggle to find what made the first one fun

Maybe the prequel is just a little too serious? Kingsman one especially was irreverant fun

watched The Fifth Element with the boys on Saturday (Stan has an entire genre of "90s nostalgia!)

Fuck that is an entertaining film.

The kids were so funny. First it was "this is just like Die Hard in space, this guy is always the same"

and then, on more occassions than i want to admit

"oh that's where that thing you say all the time comes from!" apparently it's very quotable.

I never say ‘Lilu Dallas Multipass’ everytime I have to produce anything like an ID, that would be lame 🙂

God damn, I had forgotten how good the start of Red Dawn was. The great prologue, then immediately into some brutal action.

Soviet Union suffers worst wheat harvest in 55 years

Labor and food riots in Poland. Soviet troops invade

Cuba and Nicaragua reach troop strength goals of 500,000. El Salvador and Honduras fall

Greens party gains control of West German Parliament. Demands withdrawal of nuclear weapons from European soil

    Mexico plunged into revolution

NATO dissolves. United States stands alone.

Yes… yes. Go to the sporting goods store. From the files obtain forms 4473. These will contain descriptions of weapons, and lists of private ownership.

LOL, how is this movie not a 9 on IMDB.

    Batman movie is pretty good.

Real se7en light vibes and a well put together story with actual detective shit going on.

Some of the shots were amazing. Were a couple of clunky scenes and one silly “white people bad” line, but 99% was well done.

Son loved it, discarded the shit out of my daughter.

    4 out 5 batarangs

Does it continue the continuity of Batman or is it yet another re boot ?

Multiverse Earth 2 version of Batman in his second year.

Flash movie will have Battfleck and Earth 89 Keaton Batman too. So at least three of the buggers running around this yeah.

100% a big screen movie. Whoever the cinematographer was pulling out all the stops. Comic book noir type movie, and just the sound alone is worth going out for.

i know comic book nerds fucking love it

    but

the multiverse thing is fucking stupid. And seems like a convenient way for companies to make money without having to come up with ongoing stories.

not sure you've quite nailed it because lots of comics have continuity going decades, personally i think its because they keep these stories going for so long they write themselves into corners and so a way to keep going (and yes making money) without completely rebooting whole universes (which they have also done a few times) is to have multiple realities

still about money...but slightly less cynical as far as im concerned

which i am cool with, because comic books come out weekly/monthly for years and years and years and years.

If you are releasing a Spiderman movie every 3 years, it shouldn't be that hard.

Now we are doing Batman as well? I've lost count of how many Batmen i am up to in my life, could be quite the movie to get them all in (I want to see 2022 Val Kilmer in a batsuit)

Superhero movies have peaked. There's still enormous amounts of money to be made, so we'll keep going. But we've peaked.

@mariner4life ok, if we're talking just movies rather than comics then yeah, i get ya. the number of batmen and spidermen over the last couple of decades is a bit stupid
