Possibly harsh, but relevant again today to India's middle order strike rate:

Hard to have a more emphatic result than that in the last warm up game. After conceding 321 to Australia, the White Ferns clased it down with 325/1 and with 6.5 overs to spare...!

Sophie Devine 157 (116, and Amedlia Kerr with 92 (75) being the not out batters, Suzie Bates scoring 63.

Game today was at Lincoln, but Bay Oval might have been getting ready for the opening ceremony?

Normally I'd have been at Blake Park late afternoon to see what was happening nearby, but about half of one of the kid's cricket teams is out of action with Covid in their households...

Back to coverage on Sky. No problems with the weather.

I read that one of the Aussie girls (Ash Gardner) has covid so has remained in Chch, and misses their first 2 games.

Has anyone told the WI team they've got 50 overs? 🤔

Think they got the memo - 6 dot balls in a row.

I assume this is on a platform I don't have in Oz (Kayo?)

A relatively more sedate 119/3 after 24 overs now.

I struggle the most with that in Women's Cricket. It's good to watch, but seeing sitters dropped regularly is just unacceptable. You're pros- do better.

Same as rugby, tackling is appalling, most 1A teams would beat them. Gotta start somewhere tho

Interesting battle this one. NZ guilty of spraying it around bowling too short or too full. WI really bowling to a plan and bowling to their field. But they dropped Devine when she gave a chance so the game is still in the balance.

Yep, the game is nicely in the balance. So far, luckily the West Indies are making more mistakes in the field than us.
