I can’t remember watching a worse attempt from a cricket team needing 6 from 6, with 3 wickets in hand.

    They’ve had an absolute shocker!

That's pretty harsh, Dottin bowled a perfect yorker just at the right time. Amazing that she hadn't bowled up to then as she showed up their other death bowlers.

I wish I was surprised at the result, but unlike the "surprise loss" Stuff headline for tonight's game, unfortunately it has been the warm-up results over the last three weeks that have been the pleasant surprise for the White Ferns - based on the last couple of years of performances.

Still, here's hoping for much better results from the rest of the round robin!

We only need to qualify in the top half.

England Australia very likely; so that was a big loss. India will be tough - but ultimately it's on us. Get up and win4 of the next 6 and we're home, 3 and it's marginal I suspect

I'm still astonished we lost that.

6 runs off the last over, 5 to tie, three wickets in hand - and you get 2 runs and lose three wickets. Wow.

Great WI Captaincy to bring in a new bowler - but we should have been better.

Still, great finish to the game, and it's going to be wall to wall cricket for a month. Bring it on!

    Not harsh at all.
Yes, the girl bowled pretty well, but we bottled it BIG TIME!

From what little I've seen of them, South Africa will put up a good fight too. I suspect that Bangladesh are the only 'should easily beat' team in the competition. While I expect an Oz v England final, I think there are a few possible upsets in the mix.

NZ will need to beat India in Hamilton on Thursday otherwise they will be relying on other results. SA won't be easy either.

Rain affected match and the Bangladeshis have started on fire. Our bowlers looking like cannon-fodder so far!

bowling short with one fielder on the onside, and getting spanked.

PUlled it back now, wsa 30/0 after 3 overs, now 65/1 after 11 (RR back under 6)

@nzzp Yeah - 41/0 after the first five and we were in the gun, but they've pulled things back nicely since.

50/3 off the next 14 overs.

I assume that the Bangles attack is full of spinners which could make the chase more interesting.

bloody magic piece of fielding from Frankie Mackay. Runs out a batter with a quick return from her own bowling

We're in control now - as long as the rain holds off.

Without the length of the Bangladesh anthem, the amount of time it took their openers to take the field and their model bowler bowling 9 balls off a long run, we'd have got to the 20 over cut off by now! 🙂

How cool was that!! She had a great day.

Our bowling looks nowhere near good enough to challenge the pointy end of the tournament.

Tahuhu in particular has been poor. Going at around 7 runs per over against WI and Bangles is not going to cut it against Aus and Eng.

Our whole gameplan relies on our top 4 bats scoring big

@crucial Exactly what I thought. Spinners might just hold their own, but the seam attack looks very weak.

yep, but two games is all you need. Good batting and average bowling with some luck gets you there.

We should be in the mix; not favourites, but a puncher's chance

West Indies look like they might have another close finish on the way; England are 58/3 after 16 chasing 226.
