look i can see how someone might think they hadn't met since mustafar...but i think its far from canon, dont think they'd be retconing anything concrete for them to meet
I imagine though we'll see scenes of vader instructing the inquistitors on finding him and then obiwan interacting with them but possibly not meeting directly
Gee I reckon it takes a pretty loose interpretation to say it isn't canon. The dialogue there gives no indication that they met. Actually my criticism of that scene is that Darth should have been alot more pissed off at the guy who effed him up so much. It was kind of "ah hello".

Maybe they had already had that discussion?

Bear in mind it was a scene that became iconic after the movie was released and when it came out Lucas had no idea what SW would become.
I have more of an issue with the geriatric ”fight” they had ! ( again, the choreography improved out of sight in everything since then )
-
@rancid-schnitzel i guess i see it the other way...they dont say specifically when the last time they saw each other is
The more i think about it...i think it would be better if they have a meeting to explain why vader is so casual and why obi wan has completely given up on him

Sure but Lucas could have taken that into account in the prequels.
Yes that fight was lame
. Then you get TPM and them doing insane stuff that blows the OT out of the park. Lucas should also have upgraded the duels during the special editions to accommodate that. Actually I'm not adverse to them doing that now. Ultimately they'll probably reboot the lot eventually

I’m inclined to think their first meeting since Mustafar was on the Death Star purely because of Vader saying he was the learner, now he’s the master.
Then again some Lucas rewrites do fuck up the continuity ( Leia saying she remembers her mother being a massive Clanger )

Didn't they change the dialogue in Jedi for that? Pretty sure they did. Yeah Lucas desperately needed a continuity guy like Game of Thrones Martin. He was no Tolkien that's for sure. That prick had farking languages and everything.

Further to the Vader thing. Like Rogue One I think he’ll barely be in it but his scenes will be memorable ( slicing up or choking some rebel scum is always fun )

as i say i get it and that does make sense, i just dont think its anymore concrete one way or the other and i wont consider it a fuck up if we do get a meet
Hell, it could be cool if we get basically a version of the ahsoka v vader fight from rebels for those that only watch the movies..."Anakin?......" and a look of realisation on obi wans face

Obi Wan would have to be living isolated in a cave on a desert planet not to know that Anakin had become Darth Vader
-
@rancid-schnitzel do we actually know it was widely known? he went by a new name and wore a mask

The Emperor knew but fairly sure even the high ranking imperials didn’t ? Even Moff Tarkin wasn’t sure was he ?

shit, just went and watched the ahsoka v vader fight...man they had some good scenes in the animated series'

Um, A Song of Ice and Fire is actually pretty good, considering its scope. Or are you talking about the TV series? In addition Tolkien's works have heaps of contradictions, as he was changing it all the time, and never actually had most of it published. History of Middle Earth is just compiled personally notes!

Was a joke mate.
-
@rancid-schnitzel yeah, i got the joke bit, that was just an genuine question, was it a secret or well know, because that would change any possible interaction

Um. That was my point. He has a dedicated continuity guy. It's insanely detailed.
The point with Tolkien was that he put stupid amounts of time and effort into this stuff (perhaps too much). Lucas on the other hand had the very bare bones and just made it up as he went.

That's a really good question. He was already known as Darth Vader before becoming a machine but not for long.
