Wgtn 80's band Mi-Sex
Don't think I've ever heard them referred to as a Wellington band before. Gilpin was from Palmy North and had been a caberet singer touring pubs and clubs. The formation of what is known as Mi-sex was Gilpin plus members of other bands from Auckland, Hamilton and Welly, very much a hodgepodge of gigging musos. I'm fairly sure that they based themselves in Welly for a short while simply because they got a contract with EMI who had their recordings studios in Lower Hutt.
Just to show that you can never underestimate the taste of the public Computer Games was by far their biggest hit and most annoying song (followed closely on both fronts by People).
I saw them at their peak playing the Logan Concrete Centre and Steve Gilpin (RIP) was one hell of a showman. Brilliant throwing around the mic stand. Their lighting show for those days was very impressive as well.I'd say this is would be the song of theirs that has stood the test of time.
Well, they played a lot in the Wgtn area... depends which one you like, prefer Computer Games over Blue Day.
Real tragedy that Gilpin was only in his early 40's when he died from injuries in a car accident. -

Business Time
First time I saw the FotC was live in Masterton (Makora College fundraiser). I have never laughed so much in my life, it was totally out of the blue for me, free tickets so I went. This song was the best.

Met them once in London after show at Shepherd’s Bush. Brett was very likeable. Jerome less so.
Maybe because you called him Jerome.

Went to primary and secondary school with Bret and played in the same cricket team. Decent guy as I remember. I also found a photo of us at the same birthday party about 35 years ago. I might sell it if times get tough.

@mn5 going ZZ top
Well that was considerably less challenging than I thought it would be. Well done.
You have to admit they do look pretty much unrecognisable

Totally, just by luck I've seen that before. And recently enough that old man's brain hasn't forgotten
