That was a hard watch all round. Blyde did not seem to touch the ball. Hotham was very good.
Some of the newer players for men went OK. Vai Carter and Solo all impressed me. But the other newer players seemed ill at ease in the conditions. Big work on tomorrow is more urgency in defence. However Blyde was amazing in defence for the women.

The conditions haven't improved much. A field more suitable for ducks than for rugby.

BF7s showing they can play. Just a great example with a fantastic team try scored by Risi Pouri-Lane.

    10 all

    Some questionable officiating, benefiting Fijiana.

And, of course, they score. Undeserved win to Fijiana.

    FT: Fijiana 15 - 10 NZ

She must be on the take in this game. Really bad.

In game yesterday ref called 2 nz knock backs forward and gestured play on after 2 clear Fijiana knock ons. The sequence of penalties in first half was odd too.

the Black Ferns 7s were so close to winning (leading 10 - 0 at HT) and still losing 10 - 12. I thought they played well, all circumstances taken into account.

The conditions this weekend (muddy, soft, wet field in the pouring rain) have been terrible for all players and they all must be so tired. I got tired just watching that.

By the way, this was the BF7s squad (no Williams):

AB7s also lose their 2nd game against Fiji Barbarians (10 - 17). It looks like they had the same ref that officiated the BF7s in their 2nd game. He again made weird decisions, and then sent a NZ player to the bin because he disagreed haha.

    This was the AB7s team:

Here is one for @stargazer to run his eye over as India attempt to sort out the Commonwealth Games 7s Team

And as I write this Chandigah are over for an uncoverted try in the right hand corner to lead Manipur ten nil, followed not long later by another to extend that lead to fifteen points.

The score remains that way to the end where both teams form a tunnel to applaud their opponents off the field in one of the quaint traditions of rugby union.
For those that can't get enough of a rugby fix next up is a womens encounter between the might of Kerela and the female Chandigarh side. Already a notable achievement in that the first try was managed to be converted, albeit with a hilarious wobbly misskick from right in front! I think I will give it a miss!

And it got more exciting when the commentator's mobile phone rang and he cut the microphone off to answer the call!

Has Te Paea Cook-Savage been in the extended sevens squad before? I had assumed he was injured as he has only appeared in the Fraser Tech team in Waikato club rugby in recent weeks.
