RIP 2022

I just really hope it’s natural snd not something else.
Hard to see Grohl continuing. Drummer in one of the biggest bands out there …. Front man dies. Front man of one of the biggest bands out there. Drummer dies.
Incredible life but lots of tragedy too.

I'm conflicted a lttle here.
I'm sad for anyone's passing.
And I'm in the midst of wondering what Cat Pause's cause of death was... part of me is waiting for the Lifeline contact details at the end of the stories.
That is, it would not surprise me if the whole 'fat is awesome' persona just dragged her down.
Similarity, would not be surprised if heart attack.
It's all Steven Crowder, err sorry Sea Matheson's fault.

Discrimination in healthcare for being fat ?
If the shoe fits…..
RIP and all of that but shit I hate all that ‘poor me, I’m fat’ bullshit when just about 100% of the time it’s personal choice.
There's a level of health you can sustain being a bit overweight.
But you won't get away from many sabertooth tigers doing it, because everyone is going to be faster than you.
Will say tho: becoming an academic to make a case for your chocolate fetish is next level.

Drugs. I suppose that’s somewhat natural for a rock musician.

Not gonna lie: angry. Had promised my kids (and myself!) the best rock show of their lives and then this happens.
A guy who was on top of the world, with the money and fame to do almost anything he wanted, decided to smash some dodgy gear instead.
I'm not going to idolise him and pretend he could do no wrong. I'm also of the belief that people can do what they like with their bodies.
But you'd think at age 50 with a long history of drug use, he'd know how to get high without fucking killing himself.

It’s not called doing smarts for a reason

Haven't seen anything from promoters yet, am hoping "all upcoming" means next 3 months...
I know Hawkins was a great mate, but I also wonder if these guys see so many people destroy their lives that that become a little less sensitive to it... And maybe they find a way to move on...
Wishful thinking???

I'd say that's the end of the band TBH.
Grohl took a couple of years off from Nirvana before starting the Foos didn't he? It will be tough to replace him because he was such an integral part of the band and a close friend. But Grohl is too young to stop just yet
Maybe Grohl and some other guys keep going, but not as Foo Fighters. Maybe not even together...
Dave had numerous side projects as well. It's not like he'll stay idle.

Nirvana was 3 years of his life and he was a kid.
The Foos are like 28 years, and Hawkins has been in the band for like 25 of those.
He's now mates with everyone, and does a heap of side projects. It would be really hard to continue i reckon.
That said, they love to entertain, so maybe they find a way. But my money would be on no more.

@mariner4life I can't see Grohl going back to the drums, or being able to look back at the drums and see anyone other than Taylor playing. He'll keep making music but I would be surprised if the Foos keep going.

Other bands like Yes and ZZ Top have continued when founding members (i.e., Chris Squire and Dusty Hill) have died. If Grohl wants to continue as the FFs he will eventually find a suitable replacement.
Those guys were only bass players.
No one gives a fuck about bass players, I know this better than most.
