@mn5 I actually saw Beck with the Jan Hammer band in Akl in the late 70's Support act were local prog rock kings Ragnarock
was pretty wasted during my uni years so don't remember much of it
Best. Concert. Review. Ever.

I think that was one of the first LP's I bought. Have on my media server but haven't played it for years.
He received a pile of money in an out-of-court settlement from Page. Makes you wonder if he delayed action so his claim was actually worth more.

Fuck me Jeff Beck is nothing short of a MASTER guitarist. Others of that era played in bigger bands but he stood alone as the absolute genius in my opinion.
There's some serious good rhythm section background in that track. Bass line in particular is cooking.

Absolutely.
The only bit I didn’t like was the voice box thing at the start. Always thought that sounded tacky.
But the rest is amazing.

count me in - all about drumming
Watched 'Respect' biopic about Aretha Franklin the other night. Standard biopic (which IMO never work well and follow similar paths about stardom, troubles and redemption) but worth watching to marvel at the abilities of Jennifer Hudson. Completely believable as Franklin on the singing front and to top that she doesn't mimic as much as re-record.
Sure she has great material to work with but I can't imagine anyone else that could pull it off as she does. Her version of Amazing Grace is simply amazing.Still cracks me up that Simon Cowell showed his true abilities by telling Hudson that she wouldn't make it.

Watched a Netflix doc called count me in - all about drumming.
Interesting parts but sort of pointless really as no clear goal or aim to it. Watchable to hear some drumming greats chat but that’s about it
I loved it. The passion they all showed was cool. Stewart Copeland, Chad Smith, Iain Paice and Nicko McBrain were all awesome to listen to.

Cowell would argue he was the oracle and he was telling her exactly what she needed to hear.
Still, he's done ok for himself.

So yeah it seems you agree with me. There was a lot of focus on a few female lesser known drummers (ok, I'd heard of none of them) so that was one angle. Although it didn't really make sense as a doc to have them speaking with the ones you mentioned above. One thing that was noticeable was that the superstar drummers all comes across as proper down to earth good guys.
I found the thoughts / comments on Moon the most interesting.

Yeah Iain Paice ( a superior drummer in my opinion anyway ) kinda knew he wouldn’t make old bones and was right.

Indeed. Although the work/effort that Perkins (Janes Addiction drummer) had to put in to mimic what Moon did was quite eye opening.
