So first two eps of Slow Horses and I brought into it pretty easily. There's a few 'that's not how I pictured things' moments as expected when you have created scenes and characters in your head.

Oldman brilliant as expected. Change of location for River's 'fuck up' but it probably worked better visually.

Only trouble is that the books are all about the characters while TV by nature is more about plot and even as a big fan of Herron's books the plots aren't the most complex. Some of the characters, written as cliches of the genre, appear even more so in the flesh.

Still, an enjoyable and quality watch.

I watched that when it was first on TV1. I enjoyed it too.

Excellent, I liked it better than Blackadder!

But not as much as this...

If I remember this correctly though you only got around to watching Blackadder recently didn't you @taniwharugby ?

Blackadder (well S2, 3 and 4) was a cultural touchpoint at time of release. Clever and witty but I can see why someone watching it for the first time now would wonder what the hype was about.

@machpants Blackadder was good, but not as good as I remembered it being.

As I said in another post, Fawlty towers falls in same category, not as good as I remembered it.

@Crucial inhad watched most of them previously but watched all again recently

Watched first episode of Killing It starring Craig Robinson. As amusing as I hoped it would be. Will continue to watch.

    WTF is Peacock?

Haven't heard of this Streaming Service, I'm guessing that's what it is? NZ only perhaps?

Just reading a Stuff article and it is on TVNZ On Demand.

The same article mentions shows on other streaming services like Acorn TV and Shudder. Too many of them now.

Ah cool, even better, thanks @Kiwiwomble .

I have Stan as I'm in Sydney so will have to look out for this and put it in my list.

I've currently got the 7 day trail with Paramount+ to watch 1883, season 4 of Discovery and Halo.

It was only when I started the 7 day trial did I realise that Halo is dropping weekly so have now seen 2 Eps and I'm committed to my subscription until Halo finishes.

BTW, how bloody good is 1883. As a Western fan, it was just awesome, the writing was terrific and those conversations between bouts of extreme violence were awesome. And the cast, wow, great acting and the main protagonist, Isabel May is just stunning and her transformation from Ep 1 thru 10 is quite remarkable.

Just read that instead of a Season 2 of 1883, there are just going to be more Episodes, like a part A due to how popular it has been.

Halo is actually better than I expected and enjoy the first 2 eps.

Discovery is well, Discovery and I have to say I enjoy it but it isn't going to win any awards.

that is some shitty Horror channel I think?

@RoninWC Halo is on TVNZ On demand here, so I'll def be having a look at it!

I thought the next season of 1883 was set like 50 years ahead??

@taniwharugby I think that was the original plan but given the success and popularity of 1883 they will extend the episodes and then from what I understand, a second new series set 50 years later is in the works.

As per this article, the writer has all of this worked out well before the Yellowstone Series began.

    Travis Clark  /  Mar 10, 2022  /  Media, Entertainment

An '1883' producer explains how the 'Yellowstone' prequel's story will continue without a season 2

An '1883' producer explains how the 'Yellowstone' prequel's story will continue without a season 2

David Glasser, an executive producer, said the "Yellowstone" prequels could be viewed collectively as an anthology series.

It's best not to revisit old shows that you have good memories off unless you are in a nostalgic mood. Lots of movies etc from the 80s that were fun at the time are very disappointing if you get to see them again.

@crucial fair point, are a few movies I refuse to re-watch (Highlander being one) based on the fact I know they wont have aged well at all.

Are plenty however that I have re-watched (movies and series) that I still enjoyed.

    Depends on the quality.

Loads of classics from the 80s are absolutely timeless and can be enjoyed again and again.

But some movies I liked as a kid are just awful to watch nowadays.
