I used to think that then thought about it one day, and thought they're people, why can't they have an opinion on politics and then voice that? If Youtube twats can monetise their politics then I don't see why De Niro can't risk his standing by calling out Trump, or Charles in Charge can't do the same by fluffing Trump
If they want to get involved in politics like Eastwood, Reagan or Schwarzenegger, then fine by me - they have the same rights as everyone else. And people like Streep, Clooney & De Niro have the right to criticise Trump or any other politician too.
But it's the "how dare he say that about me" tantrums this latter group of people exhibit when politicians hit back I find really amusing. Makes me think their utterance are more "look at me and how virtuous I am" than anything else.

Ludicrous bunch of posts. Everyone knows that Val's best movie was Top Secret
That’s actually not a bad call, fucken classic flick !
How good is this scene, Forgert Star Wars, this is Moff Tarkin at his finest !
Just watched this after about 10 years. Bonkers and a bit hit and miss - but with some classic moments

I visited Carmel where Clint was the mayor back in 2000, beautiful little spot. I also went to the restaurant he owns but he wasn’t there that night.
So yeah I’d probably better do an un fern thing and retract what I said about De Niro.

Longhaul flight so a rare chance to catch a few flicks:
Suicide Squad: Potential there and some great scenes and lines but also too much crap as well. Just a mess really. The weasel was hilarious though.
Dune: I really liked this. Saw the Lynch version as a kid and thought it was boring crap (was expecting Star Wars). But I really liked the premise and the world and will definitely have a crack at the books. I can see why they never give up this story despite it never really gaining mainstream appeal. It's just too cool to ignore.
King Richard: very enjoyable. Not sure how much was embellished but it was a good film. The Slapper was good but tbh I thought he was better in his other Oscar nominated films.

Moonfall
Roland Emmerich film which is a re-hash of Independence Day & The Day After Tomorrow. Utter shite.
Don't bother unless you are a connoisseur of hokey dialogue, cliche characters and hammy acting. Oh, and Halle Berry plays a character called Jacinda who saves the world....
1 Jeff Goldblum mad scientist out of 5 Morgan Freeman US Presidents.

I thought the original was bad but hats off to the sequel for being a shitload worse.
I’m the moron that watched it hoping for something better though so the joke is on me.

It’d be hard work getting intimate on that bed with Russ staring at you.

Faultless logic from you there.

Watched a couple of movies on a flight the other day
Richard Jewell
Atlanta Olympics bombing, security guard goes from hero to prime suspect
This is one of those stories that's so fucked up it's hard to believe. In fact, even while watching it, you sort of think "okay what am i missing here" and as it turns out, fucking nothing. The press and the FBI did a number on this poor prick because he was fat and weird (it's basically that Simpsons episode). Good flick if not brilliant. Sam Rockwell is good in it, but then, when don't you say that about Sam Rockwell?
Also Olivia Wilde is so fucking hot.
4 shitty media outlets out of 5 I'm law enforcement too you knowsGet Hard
Stupid comedy where Will Ferrell is going to max security prison so enlists the only black person he has ever met, Kevin Hart, to teach him how to survive. Exactly what it says on the box. Absolutely zero surprises here. But i find Kevin Hart really fucking funny so i enjoyed it.
Alison Brie is also pretty hot
2.5 inventive shivs out of 5 wall street are the real gangstersAs an aside, movies that are probably not the best to watch, on your phone on a plane, with your kids sitting next to you
The Wolf of Wall Street?
Funny and entertaining? Yes
Appropriate for a general audience? Not so much -

Richard Jewell
One of the best movies of the last 5 years easy.
I watched The Mighty Quinn (1989) last night. It was shite, apart from M. Emmet Walsh's CIA villain. The movie rested on (the vastly overrated) Denzel Washington's cop character's charm, but all he did was smile like a dickhead and use a horrible Jamaican accent.

The Big Short
A re-watch from me. Brought back vivid memories of a stressful, unbelievable, incredible, but character building, stage of my life. A truly great movie of a truly awful time.
5 Master of Puppets out of 5 Smarmy Salesmen.
Has jumped to be one of my all time favourites. Love it.

Now on my watch list.

He's a weird actor for me. Can be awesome in stuff like American Gangster & Glory yet very, very average in other films. Always watchable though (a bit like Eastwood or Hackman) and not a complete prick like some other A-listers.
