@stargazer said in Hawke's Bay Club Rugby 2022:

To me, players to watch include (and I will probably miss a few names):

Tech: Amos Roddick (Academy & Hurricanes U20), Bethel Malasia (Academy & Hurricanes U20), (not sure, is the K. Malasia on the bench his twin Gilgal?), Jayden Stok (Academy & should have been in Hurricanes U20), Tim Farrell

According to this it is https://www.sporty.co.nz/hbrugby/matchcentre/2481249 although the jersey numbers differ from the ones you posted earlier in this thread. In case you missed it the Doolies rolled Clive, who looked a bit short on fitness and tackling as the game wore on, something like 56 - 17. Still awaiting the Whitmore Park result.

EDIT; The result has just been posted so all's well with the world for this week at least
    Altherm Tech 30 - 28 MAC
    Other results
    Hastings RSC 40 - 12 Pirates
    Taradale 70 - 20 Aotea
    Havelock Nth 13 - 08 Central HB
    Napier Old Boys-Marist 56 - 17 Clive
    Tamatea 100 - 00 Bye

I see Kere Penitito ended up at NOBM. Hadn't realised his brother plays for NOBM, too.

I wonder whether all Faleiva's in HB club rugby are brothers and whether all are frontrowers. Must have been a huge food bill for their parents when they were all growing up.

Note the debut of Lanson Randell for MAC. I was wondering whether he'd left school, because I hadn't seen his name on any of the Lindisfarne team sheets.

A McClutchie making his debut for Clive. Does anyone know him? You'd expect a close relation from Lincoln to play for Tamatea, I think?

Tom Parsons on Central's bench. Not surprised to see him there, with IWL fit again for the Hurricanes.

And there he is, Kaihau Pasikala playing for Havelock North. So he has indeed left school and is still in the Bay.

    I haven't seen Tamatea's team sheet, yet.

    Tamatea
1 Tane Cooper, 2 Uenuku Haerara, 3 Te Maangi Hamlin, 4 Anaru Kupa, 5 Bo Ross, 6 Te Rira Rowlands, 7 Donovan Godinet, 8 Arama Kite, 9 Shamara Brooks, 10 Carlos Kemp, 11 ... , 12 Mataeus Marsh, 13 Hunta Marsh, 14 Elijah Mataira, 15 Ash Robinson-Bartlett

Reserves: Tell Kuka, 17 Daniel Paku, 18 Bonham Edwards, 19 Ramo Leef

Not sure whether this line-up from the HBRU website corresponds to who's actually playing, as I see players with jersey numbers that aren't on the list.

The Havelock North TH prop has a failed copy of Fakatava's old (bleached) mullet.

Why do I always pick the game where no one is able to score? Moving to another game at half time. You'll see HN and Tamatea will start scoring in the 2nd half.

After briefly switching games, I'm back at HN v Tamatea.

It's not the best of games, but Cooper Flanders is very busy, involved in all the action.

I'm basically watching this game because I want to have a good look at the halfbacks, but this game has been so messy that I have no idea. Shamara Brooks passing is pretty quick & accurate. Bracewell now on for the Villagers.

Kaihau Pasikala is now on the field, and despite the number 18 on his jersey, he seems to be playing where he should be: in the backrow.

Full time scores (match sheets under the links):

    Aotea 22 - 34 Tech
    MAC 34 - 40 NOBM
    Clive 26 - 38 HRS
    Pirates 15 - 26 Central
    Havelock North 19 - 13 Tamatea

Ryan Tongia sent off with a red card at the end of the game. He also scored a try for Aotea.
Bethel Leutele-Malasia got a yellow in the same game, and scored two tries. His twin Gilgal also scored a try.
MAC played the final 8 minutes with 13 men, with two players yellow-carded one minute after each other.

Hopefully, all other match sheets will be completed, so we can at least see who scored the points and got the cards.

Tomo Fogerty scored 3 of Central's 4 tries v Pirates.

Tom Parsons played all the second half.

    Uncontested scrums last 20 minutes.

    😁
All is still well with the world, the trip back to Marewa will be most enjoyable as my guys remain at the top of the points table.
Meanwhile down in Wellington I managed to get back to the flat in Hataitai from Hataitai Park in a very pleasing 7 hours which is reasonably ok for about a 900 metre slalom like stagger, albeit nicely refreshed and in no danger of dehydration. Seem to have lost a bit of pace somewhere along the way, both drinking and walking. Sadly no need to refer to the Wellington Swindale Shield results to confirm what many MSP followers intimated to me in one of my comfort stops en route! Incidentally ran into Chicago Doyle who was making his senior club rugby debut today and took out the MSP player of the day award to cap it all off during my travels.
