All teams will have lost plenty of players. The pre-season results have been all over the place.

For context, St John's are usually the 3rd rated of the Waikato CNI schools (behind St Paul's and St Peter's) but have attracted some named coaches. They could be on the rise again.

WBHS went down to St Kents 5-32, after trailing 5-10 at halftime.

WBHS apparently had a number of starters out, so not a bad effort by all accounts.

Hard to know how much to read into preseason. Combinations and game plans still coming together. Looking forward to the 1A comp this year after seeing some of these scores. Wellington comp looks to slowly be making a comeback, or maybe its just Scots and Stream

I've said it before, but Feilding HS has been really impressive during preseason. They've beaten a few Super 8 schools (Hastings BHS, NPBHS and GBHS) and St Pat's Silverstream. Finished 6th in the CNI comp, last year. Although preseason results don't give a reliable picture of the differences in strength between teams, I can see FAHS having a better 2022 season.

Fielding definately looking good. Watched them play WC and St Pats Stream. Some big lads in that Fielding team.

Rongotai have some handy players. Expect them to push the top 4 teams this year.

@Stargazer FAHS always enters the Co-Ed competition for the Top 4, so are usually guaranteed to come out of the Hurricanes region. It would be interesting if they committed to the boys competition so they play some of the stronger schools at the end of the season.

These are two bangers to kick off the weekend. Hopefully Scots have all their players healthy and should push Palmy boys. Stream look to be a game or two away from being in tip top shape but could scare Hastings

Napier looked very good during preseason. There was a link to a livestream of the Town v Napier game a week ago, but it has disappeared. Definitely a game to watch. Unfortunately, at the same time as the Silverstream v Hastings game.

Not sure whether I'll be able to make it, but if I do, it will be a hard choice between those two games.

Town look weak and in a rebuild. Have good size but lack cohesion. Napier will be one of the best in the country and dont really see any team in Wellington pushing them.
WC look to be building slowly but maybe a year past their best. Rongotai are on the rise and will trip up one of these top 4 this season. Stream look strong again with a hefty looking forward pack and skillful backs. Scots are Scots. Recruit. Recruit. Recruit.
