how, exactly, does one get paid to write about the mundanery of middle-aged life?

"Why the front right is the favourite spot on my cooktop"

"I need all the labels on the stubbies in my beer fridge to face forward, because the concept of absolute chaos scares me"

"I fold my toilet paper, and why the Neanderthals who scrunch should be put in internment camps"

They’re journalists and they get paid fuck all, I think that answers your question.

Wait what? People scrunch toilet paper before using it?

I think I'm with this guy and his extremely punchable face on this one.

Giles questioned on his creative process -

How do you come up with your column ideas? Are you assigned them by an editor, or do you carry a notebook around so you can jot down things as they come to you?

It just arises out of sheer desperation. That fear on a Wednesday morning when I wake up and I've got nothing. Then something will hopefully occur to me.

That would have been my guess as to his process, based purely on the fact that nothing worthwhile has ever occurred to him.

The worst thing about this is Henry's taste.

That is an horrific photo of Lim.

Quite pathetic that Ardern thinks she needs to chime in.

I fucking loved this part of the article though - DGL’s annual report for the year to June 30 says the largest shareholders after Henry are National Nominees with 15%, Citicorp Nominees with 6% and HSBC Custody Nominees with 6%.

Stuff showing the world that they really don't have a single clue about anything ....

Nominees. Means you have no idea who the holders are. There could be one, could be 200 who make up those holdings.

It literally means nothing. It’s like when you put 2000 in a bank. The banks balance sheet shows 5bln due to creditors.

@MajorRage Yep, nominees register the shares in their names (the “street” name) to protect the anonymity of the actual owners. The nominees typically have no control over the securities registered in their name.

We used to occasionally get invaded by clueless protesters who objected to us being the owners of “life science” companies, big tobacco, petros etc. I once got shouted at by a PETA man who demanded to know where "the stocks" were because he and his friends were going to set fire to them and it disgusted him that I wouldn’t tell him. Of course they were in the vault next to the gold bars and the clients’ cash all the time.

Yeah, that was one of the most mild, run off the mill photos I've ever seen, with no detectable cleavage. That guy must get overly excited on a trip to New World, by the standard of his weird comment.

This could easily have gone into the Bogans with kids thread, but as it’s a bit of shit reporting on a non story on an utterly shite “news” site, it belongs here.

I do not want to see any of the videos.
