Dane Coles takes the field and all of a sudden the Canes don't suck. Coincidence?

Not what you want on your debut. Stupid from Higgins.

@Stargazer yeah he’ll be a bit sheepish but no doubt he will play plenty of minutes for the Canes in the future.

Player of the match for me was Aiden Morgan. Just needs to clean up his conversions.

@Canes4life For me, the clear stand-outs were Laubscher and Moorby.

@Stargazer they were both brilliant aswell.

I just felt Morgan ran things really well, defs needs to be our 10 going into the back end of the season.

Hopefully Love can come back onto the bench.

Certainly some selection headaches in that backline going forward.

Hopefully Moorby eventually makes his way back home to play NPC.

The Canes do score some sweet tries from scrums/lineouts.

Drua were terrible. Expected a lot more from them.

Think it was a hangover from the highs of playing first home game last week. Though as a Canes' man I happy.

Brumbies, Crusaders and Blues will get a home playoff, you would think. Hurricanes, Reds, Waratahs and Chiefs are fighting for 4th. Hurricanes probably still need to win all remaining games.

Man, he was so close to getting one today!

Drua failed to read any of the Canes set piece. A training run at best for the Canes.

@hydro11 I’ve done the math and I think we will end up at 5 meaning we play the Chiefs in Hamilton in the quarter final. This is all assuming we win the rest of our games, the Reds lose to the Blues and Crusaders, the Waratahs obviously lose to us next week, and the Chiefs win all their remaining games.

Nope, the unflushables will be back next week, and we'll choke Vs Tahs

@Machpants you’re right, Prinsep, Blackwell and Garden-Bachop will have to start next week. We played too well today, it must have made Holland uncomfortable.

So Franks isn't very good eh? Best hope is to displace Laulala but prolly not gonna do that by going backwards in the scrum, walking around the field and dropping as soon as he gets the ball.

@Bones He was done in 2019 so I couldn't imagine him being much chop in 2022 after a long injury layoff.

Give him a break it was his first game in ages, he’s very old and he was never dynamic to start with

Probably a bit one sided so it died in the last 30. But some enjoyable work by the Canes early.

                                      What’s next weeks team?

                                      1. Ben May
                                      2. James O’Reilly
                                      3. Owen Franks
                                      4. James Blackwell
                                      5. Walker-Leawere
                                      6. Reed Princep
                                      7. Duplessis Kirifi
                                      8. Ardie Savea
                                      9. Jamie Booth
                                      10. Jackson Garden-Bachop
                                      11. Bailyn Sullivan
                                      12. Jordie Barrett
                                      13. Billy Proctor
                                      14. Julian Savea
                                      15. Ruben Love

Thought Tyler Laubscher played too well on debut that he needs to be dropped to keep Princep higher on the pecking order. Aidan Morgan was far too threatening on attack to be considered next week, JGB it is. Thought Sullivan has been the form #13 in the country just about so it’s a good time to move him to a new position. Sangster had too much impact around the field and made too many meters so he’ll need to play for the B team this week. Billy Proctor scored a try so it’s a good chance for him to keep the 13 jersey for the next 2 years. Thought Rayasi was starting to hit form so it’s a good time to fuck with his head by dropping him too.

Trying to find the record winning margin for the Canes

                                        67-5 must be close-The highest ever score is 96 (Crusaders v Waratah 96-19 2002)
The biggest margin is 89 (Bulls v Reds 92-3 2007)

                                        Thanks Wikipedia)

Unsure about the Hurricanes though. Maybe against the Sunwolves

My takeaways from the game yesterday without taking too much from the Drua.

Standouts were Moorby, Morgan, Sullivan and Laubsher.

Others that pushed their case for a starting spot moving forward were Sangster & Rayasi. I thought Howden and Roigard were really good coming on late aswell. Aumua also gets a mention, his set piece work was excellent.

Plenty of selection headaches for the trip to Aus but I really do hope we stay away from Prinsep at the very least. I know it was only the Drua but the Canes had a lot more go forward ball than they’ve had this year thanks in part to not having Blackwell and Prinsep in the 15, who rarely break the advantage line.

I also hope Love can make the trip, he will be the perfect reserve for us at the moment instead of Jackson Garden-Bachop (who was horrible coming off the bench).
