Too many scrum resets in this game.

Hastings' halfback is their weakest link. He's slow. He just waited so long, that Lindisfarne almost stole the ball.

Lindisfarne line-out, again too close to Hastings' try line, but Hastings steals the ball.

Penalty Hastings, it's the right winger now who kicks for touch. Good result. Line-out well into Lindisfarne's half.

The line-out has lead to a Hastings try, with the hooker going for a run and scoring in the left corner.

Hastings no. 11 misses the conversion.

    19 - 0 Hastings. Almost half time.

Argghh, Hastings halfback going for an adventure, kicks the ball, chases, looks back at his team mates, only for a Lindisfarne player to pick up the ball. Fortunately, nothing done with it. I hope the Hastings' reserve halfback is better.

    Half time:

    Lindisfarne 0 - 19 Hastings Boys'

Well-worked attack from Hastings Boys, leads to Lindisfarne offending in their 22. Hastings line-out ...

overthrown, straight into the hands of a Lindisfarne player. Not long after, a Lindisfarne player knocks on. Time for a Hastings scrum .. arggghhh, another reset. ... and another one.

After a failed Lindisfarne attack, we're back in their half. They have the line-out .. and one of their backs throws an intercept pass. A Hastings forward goes for a run but is tackled just before the Lindisfarne try line. Lindisfarne player is then pushed by a Hastings player and drops the ball as a result. The Hastings LH prop is sent to the bin.

Lindisfarne scrum goes very well as a result with a massiving driving maul, advantage ..

Going back for the penalty. Kick, touch line-out just in Hastings' half.

The line=out doesn't go well, and the ball ends up with a Hastings' player who knocks it on. Lindisfarne scrum ..

I should add that the weather is dry, but the field is very wet.

Oh, almost a try to Lindisfarne. Then they go wide and the last-but-one player throws the ball into touch.

They had advantage, there they go again. I think it was the Lindisfarne number 8 who scored the try, but the jerseys are a bit dirty now, so it's not easy to see the difference between a 6 and 8.

    The try is converted.

    7 - 19 Hastings.

Lindisfarne has now gained confidence and are hot on attack. Their passing still isn't great though. It leads to nothing.

Penalty Lindisfarne. They kick for touch, but not gaining much ground. Line-out in Hastings half, not good, Hastings steal it.

Brilliant. Hastings' forwards are flexing their muscles. Great turnover, pass, and one of their players seems to score, but didn't apparently. Maybe he knocked on?

He must have been in touch, because it's a Lindisfarne line-out.

The difference between these teams should be bigger. Why isn't is?

Lindisfarne's defence is better than I expected, but Hastings Boys' doesn't exactly look like champions material either. Their Super 8 matches will tell us more, but if I was a betting man, my money would be on Napier at the moment, not Hastings.

Hastings scrum close to Lindisfarne' s try line.

Too. easy. Hastings no. 8 picks up the ball and is practically unmarked. Only had to run a few metres to score.

    The left winger converts.

    Hastings leads 26 to 7.

Holy shit, Lindisfarne just subbed its hooker and their reserve hooker is huge!

Oh, he's wearing the 16 jersey but he actually replaced the TH prop.

Hastings scrum, let's see what impact that lad has.

    Not much in this scrum.

Hastings on attack, but knock the ball on. The big lad tried to make a turnover but it wasn't needed.

The field is really muddy now, and players are sliding on the field.

Hastings again on attack. They're in the left corner that isn't visible for the camera.

Excellent team try, all thanks to a run from the left winger on the right side of the field, but it's one of their taller players who scores. The other lock? Or the number 5 again?

Hastings left winger converts the try. Time's almost up.

    7 - 33 Hastings.

Discipline may be an issue for Hastings Boys? They've given away quite a few penalties.

One of Lindisfarne's big forwards (I can't read his jersey number) is a strong, good ball carrier. Unfortunately, didn't get enough support.

    It's full time:

    Lindisfarne 7- 33 Hastings Boys

Cheers for the updates @Stargazer - I too am wondering about why it's so close.

@Nepia I think the wet conditions played it's part - they certainly caused some of the handling errors - but that works both ways. So that doesn't explain everything. Obviously, Lindisfarne must have been very motivated. A local derby at home, cheered on by about all other students (it was quite noisy). That must have lifted their game.

Not having team line-ups from Hastings also makes it impossible to see whether it was a full-strength squad playing today, or that they were again missing players.

Super 8 will tell us more.

I'm really keen to find out who some of the players are.
