Napier so deserved that. Palmy were under the pump for the last 10+ minutes.

Phew, that was a nailbiter and in some ways frustrating game to watch, but Napier Boys retain the Polson Banner.

Napier Boys still getting favourable coverage in the Hawkes Bay today. Not that I have an issue of it in and off itself but I had to laugh in the year Hastings Boys beating all and sundry I read two schoolboy rugby articles that had 80% of the column inches devoted ton Napier and 20% to the team about to win everything.

Essentially Hawkes Bay today is the equivalent of the Canes, and Hastings Boys are the equivalent of the Magpies.

Two minutes played, and Napier almost scored their first try. Player just in touch. Gisborne line-out on their own 5m.

After a few Napier attacks lead to nothing, we're now on Napier's 5m for a Gisborne line-out, but they loose the ball forward.

Gisborne get a penalty right in front of the sticks, but they choose to go for a scrum. Would have been easy points.
