I fell asleep on the couch with the Test still on early in the second session. I kept having this dream that our top order were busy scoring lots of runs in the sunshine...

Quite a difference that a week makes...!

    I reckon. Kane who ?

Nicholls likely to get dropped for the next test provided he’s over the vid ?

No more likely Bracewell making way for Williamson.

In my haste I completely forgot about him.

What was funny was fielder's reaction (Ollie Pope?) when he collected the ball.

That is a crazy shot. Not like the spectator tried to catch the ball in the cup or anything

So after day one we’re in a similar position to where we were in the second innings of the last test.

Both Son of Mitch and Blundell not out, having put us in a strong position.

I better not wake up to another bloody batting collapse!

Averaging over 60 with his third ton. Great achievement.

Bracewell looking confident on the front foot. Already 5 boundaries in his 22 runs. Three absolute pearlers too.

We’re not helping our cause with all these wickets falling in such quick succession. Would be nice to get up to 540-550.

550 up and Mitch Jnr needs 13 for a double

Game has the look of being a high scoring draw at this rate.

@ACT-Crusader Bracewell deserves his opportunity, he’s had a sensational year and it’s great to see he’s taking his form to the highest level. Much prefer him to CDG.

While the latest Bracewell is making his debut, it looks like the next-generation Pringle is going to follow the Netherlands representative path instead: Cadets Facebook post, and Cricinfo: Tom Cooper to make Netherlands comeback in England ODI series. Shane Snater and Chris Pringle's son Tim both named in provisional 18-man squad

(Interestingly, Pringle played for an NZXI v Netherlands earlier this year)

Isn't there some rule that if you play for a minnow it doesn't rule you out playing for another nation? Like Chapman playing for Hong Kong (?) and then the Black Caps a short time later.

Such a shame we don't have anyone in the squad who is famed for making things happen in unhelpful conditions

England keep up this scoring rate, they’ll only be 100 behind by the close of play. Batting looks way too easy out there. Root has all the shots

Maybe not a draw after all at this rate, given we can’t take wickets or restrict the run rate…

Of note overnight, Rachin Ravindra is 178* after opening the batting on his county debut for Durham v Worcestershire
