So that is half the backline sorted for England. Next up is figuring out the rest.

Ideally you'd have your 9 & 10 from the same franchise because combinations but in this case we all pretty know Quade is starting.

That Hooper kid from the Brumbies would be my bolter for blindside. He's got all the right attributes but lacks experience.

One Hooper in the team is enough 😉

I'd like to know how Tony Harper considers those who have been left out to be "big names" or a shock omission.

Hodge is, he's been there for a long time, a regular in the wallabies. Also only leaves one fullback, and Hodge is one of the few Ozzie players that seem to be able to exit kick successfully!

Hodge is a talentless donkey. Imagine being second rate to Banks.

Just an observation but the goalkicking this year from the Australian teams seemed pretty poor, not sure if anyone has access to the stats but it appears to be a weakness come test time when every point counts. I guess that is another reason for Quade in the side as he is probably the pick of the bunch.

@NTA I assume Tom Hooper's injury is serious as he isn't in the Aust A squad?

A tweet quoted in that article

A rough Australia A XV of players left out:

Johnson-Holmes, Kaitu’u, Robertson, Smith, Blyth Hanigan, McReight, Harris, Lonergan, Donaldson, Pulu, To'omua, Foketi, Campbell, Hodge

Really showcases the depth built under Rennie

Does it? Our leftovers would smash your leftovers.

Have to be that. No other reason you wouldn't pick him at least for the As.

Quade will be an important player for Oz because Lolesio isn’t quite there.

A lot of very good backline players in that squad, but can Rennie get the combinations right? He has failed to do so since taking over.

    Cook Cup gooooone

To be replaced by the Ella-Mobbs Trophy.

Good idea all round, even though we'll no doubt have to put up with the News Corp snowflakes crying about "cancel culture" for a bit

Or no one will really care too much about the name change. It’s a wild idea to name a rugby trophy after two former rugby players.

    "Ella mob" lol

Key point from this ad, is when are we getting 4k sky?

Australia has once again sought to stir the pot ahead of England's three Test series against the Wallabies in July - with Stan Sport...

@Machpants might upgrade to 4k Stan for July and see whether the extra $10 is worth it... and whether my third-rate* internet can handle it.

(* using "third world" feels inappropriate when the third world often has better internet)

You should be able to get by on 25 Mbps for 4K (so long as not downloading much else) . Some sources even suggest as low as 15 Mbps, although that might be "ersatz 4K"...

So, unless you have corroded copper FTTN**(thanks, Malcolm!) it's worth a shot.

    ** That would be fourth-rate.

@Kiap not sure about the corrsion, but there is ~930m of copper between my house and the nearest node, so....

I get about 26mbps on average.

Fibre arriving some time soon apparently.

I'd say you were right then, 3rd rate -- if there's no dropouts, that is (some other poor saps can't even get consistent 25Mbps).

Some folks are already signing up for the FibreConnect upgrade. If you contact your provider (provided they're not a shit tier ISP) and your area is eligible now, they can probably hook you up in around 5-6 weeks.

@Machpants National fibre network is easily one of the best things our government has ever done.

Probably by looking at Oz and doing the exact opposite.
