    @Machpants

    I confess i’d never heard of this. Pic your link supplied wasn’t especially revealing, so looked up more. For me, the thread of learning something new each day. Thanks.

    "CEOs sobered up and got to thinking they should stroll on down to the engineering department and do a bit of managing, with devastating results."

    So, so true. I have it on good authority the VW-Audi emission cheat fiasco came about when a management-type got himself involved in Software engineering stuff he should never have been let near.

    @Kid-Chocolate Easter egg in the article - Permutation City is the name of a Greg Egan novel. I've read almost all of his stuff - definitely one of the best hard science fiction writers writing today

    He could have been aphid hunting and just as he shot the grasshopper pounced?

    @Bones dunno, I watched the latest Jurrasic Park, and were some locusts that were over a foot, so easy to see how a grasshopper could be bigger...although, are they still just grasshoppers, I mean they could hop trees or houses? House hopper?

    In the mezzanine hallway above the main dining room (I hate the term banqueting hall) I have an array of mounted aphid heads. It’s quite the thing you know.
