@Nepia saw Jurassic World today, enjoyable film!

Some nice nods to the original, even more so with some of the original cast.

Some cliched moments, but adds to it, guess the door is open for another.

3.5 did you guys not learn from the last time out of 5 nope, that Steve Jobs looking mofo done learned nothing!

I am a fan of Bryce Dallas Howard, DeWanda Wise looked pretty sexy too.

It's getting panned too, which I find strange, especially in comparison with the second one.

    Agree with all your points.

I also saw another movie getting panned - Lightyear. I just thought this was a fun space movie and then I hear it's ruining Toy Story's legacy. 😂 TBH I didn't even think of it as a Toy Story movie, to me it was just a movie about a character who was made into a toy. Maybe it's because I'm not a Toy Story absolutist, I really like 1 and 2, but I fell asleep during 3 (for reasons unrelated to the quality of the movie) and have never finished it so conversely haven't seen 4.
3.5 Taika's in everything from Disney these days out of 5.

Just amazing. There’s nothing the man can’t do.

More depth, emotion and range than Gary Oldman, Daniel Day Lewis, Robert De Niro and Al Pacino combined.

    The Commando
Headline: This is a bad movie.

    • There's a whole lot in this that just doesn't make sense.
    • Fuck, the title doesn't even make any sense. There's not a single "Commando" in the entire movie.
      • The protagonist is a DEA agent, with an unspecified military background. (To be fair - the way the DEA goes about their business in the opening scene was much more like a Special Forces op in an overseas country with 'extreme-prejudice'/zero-fucks-given, than a domestic law enforcement agency).
      • The antagonist also has an unspecified military background, but is certainly not a "Commando". In his opening scene, sure - he beats up multiple prison-yard thugs. But in the "climactic showdown" - doesn't even attempt to throw a single punch.
    • Tit-watch: zero.
    • Worth watching for: to see the state Mickey Rourke has gotten himself into. My first thought on seeing him in this was: if Doom Patrol was being re-cast, they could get Mickey Rourke to play Rita Farr, the woman who dissolves into an elasti-blob - and save money on the special effects.
    • Least annoying characters: the teenage daughters' breasts
    • Most annoying character: the hyperactive scotsman. CONSTANTLY going "yeah, let's just fucking do it. Let's go. Let's do it now... let's get on with it." Including in the fucking afternoon, knowing that it's a night-time job.

1 over-done PTSD flashback done to death, to draw out the run-time; out of 5 "extra"-level henchmen appearing out of nowhere, to just get killed.

@Kruse I was about to tell you to hand your man card in, until I saw the "The" in the title.

Hustle with Adam Sandler. Actually not bad. Sandler is a good actor when he's not just phoning it in.

Yeah - I think I need to go watch Commando, to wash the stench of The Commando out of my mind.

    Blacklight

    • 2020s era Liam Neeson
    • Everything else I could possibly say is redundant.

    But:

    • Titwatch: zero
    • Watching Liam in chase scenes was amusing... I can't remember if they'd written in a reason for him to be a shambling mess, but... you'd hope so, it should be easy enough to do.
    • End-credits music... starts with the lyrics "Every story needs a hero... like every bullet needs a gun." That took my attention, so I initially missed the excellent follow-up: "Well... IIIII've been looking for a battle-cry. Now will I stand or will I run?" And then, yeah, it just continues in that vein. Lyric after lyric, Song after song of vapid bullshit.

1 evil SledgeHammer out of 5 modern Mustangs being used to covertly enter and leave a sensitive/quiet situation.

Oh, and: "Nothing's gonna break me down! Nothing's gonna break me down, no, no, no! Nothing's gonna take me out, no no, no! Yeah, nothing's gonna break me! If I stand my ground, and I don't back down, nothing's gonna... " Fucking... inspirational.
And as I look up just now, it all makes sense. "Made with the support of the Australian Government".

That's because little boys who watched Toy Story are neckbeards now.
