Equal parts great fun and irritating I thought……
##spoiler
The DV clash was sensational but I find it hard to believe that Obi Wan just walked away…..AGAINI’m assuming DV has some sort of panel beaters to fix him up when he gets damaged which brings me to this point….
How did the third sister survive a lightsaber stab and then get to tattooine before Obi Wan ? Seriously, she was running around and fighting like nothing had happened ( although how Owen and Beru go from being tough enough to be taking on an inquisitor to getting executed by Storm Troopers is anyones guess ) What is with all these OP new characters ?
What happens to her now ? Would have made much more sense if DV actually killed her.
But yeah, very good series overall, terrific action and Ewen McGregor and even little Leia were fantastic. Loved the predictable Qui Gonn cameo too

Fair enough if you enjoyed it. There was enough key jangling there to keep the nostalgia factor pumping. But on the whole this was a steaming pile. Star Wars is like a great rock band of the past still living off songs from decades ago. Their new stuff is garbage but they only need to play some old tunes and enough people will be happy.

I get what you’re trying to say even if you’re probably being a bit harsh.
The old characters are the ones I care about……I couldn’t give a fuck about Ice Cubes son, the chick from GOT, the inquisitors or the fake Jedi.
Fuck, even Owen and Beru mean more than any of them.
That’s why I like Rogue One the best of the newer films cos it ties in with that era.

That's my point. Disney SW is living off the fumes of the OT. The new characters are mostly shit and they're reliant on nostalgia bait to keep things going. Even the Mandalorian was just a Boba Fett rip off.
It's a shame because there could have been a great series here. Apparently the first draft was of a Sand People war and Obi having to assist without revealing he's a Jedi. That IMHO sounds much better than babysitting Lea and smashing cannon.

No it doesn't. It sounds boring AF unless you want some kind of serious plotline stuff in what is a good v bad fantasy serial.
I prefer to watch SW shows with my 13yr old hat on. Don't over complicate things or search for plot holes or character flaws. SW the original had tons of unbelievable moments and crappy dialogue yet it was one of the best movies ever.
Stop over thinking and if you don't enjoy it for what it is don't watch it.As for 'smashing' canon, if anything this show went out of the way to fill in the gaps and plotholes created by canon.

IMO all this is the fault of fans wanting answers for everything. Irony is that when the answers are provided they bitch about them.
The OBW v Vader battle in the finale was better than the dance moves on Mustafar IMO. Awesome stuff.

@Crucial You have the right attitude for this sort of show.
Hilarious watching some of the reactions online to these kids shows. Don't like it, don't watch - pretty simple.
Worth the misteps in some of execution (Leia chase, etc) for a scene like this;
##spoiler
##endspoilerIMO, they could have trimmed this to three episodes and had a pretty excellent story. Just had a bit too much padding.
-
@Kirwan I love the linkages to the other stories/movies. I don’t mind the padding either as I fully get Disneys need for content too.
4/5 ACTC Jnr’s like and watch this stuff and it’s something I can watch with them. So from that context I’m not going to find too much fault with them.

If you accept the fact it isn't Lord of the Rings or War and Peace, you can enjoy it for what it is

You're right. Why even bother having standards or an opinion. Just consume product and shut tfu.

Some opinions have more value than others.
There are so many options for streaming services and TV in general, just doesn't make sense to watch stuff you don't like just to complain about it.
It also gets pretty boring reading essentially the same post from you over and over again. At least try and be original.

The show wasn’t without flaws but having rewatched the Kenobi/Vader showdown again I can confirm it is one of the most epic clashes in SW history. The way the voice changes between Anakin/DV and the blue light on him turns red is masterfully done. Cool to see who gave him that scar too.
Geez those two were like Ali and Frazier with their ding dong clashes over the years !
Vader certainly wasn’t an armchair general, he got his hands fucken dirty.
…..and Kenobi is powerful and just so, so effortlessly cool.
None of the new characters are remotely close.

@Kirwan said in Star Wars VII ****contains spoilers****:
@MN5 It was a great moment and artfully done. When a show has moments like this, and complements the original trilogy so well, I can forgive some of the more clunky stuff.
Of which there was a fair bit. Everything involving the third sister in the last episode was ludicrous….but that goes back to my original point of not caring too much about the new characters.
-
6 episodes of mostly good stuff. My main annoyance is casting a midget to play a 10 year old.
Also liked how they threw away the effects budget this week so the star destroyer looked like the one from Ep4.
They could do a McGregor mini series every few years until he looks as old as Guinness did. Although McGregor is only 7 years younger than Guinness was when he first played Obi Wan.

I remember them talking about that in Rogue One, making it look a bit shit on purpose to match a new hope, which is pretty funny.
Ships in space are too easy for them these days.

All great points
I think I could have done without the first fight between Vader and obiwan…we could have seen how rusty he was at fighting against the inquisitors…one fight like we just got after Vader had a “I’ll do it myself moment”
Didn’t like how he called him darth, cause that’s like a title…should have called him Vader
Three times in this series people left others to die without finishing them off…and they all survived…that probably the roughest bit for me
And some of the timing had GoT s7 issues…sometime they can get between planets in minutes and sometimes it take days
All of that worth it to get that speech from Vader/anikan and that fight as well as all those boxes ticked off

Lucas unwittingly left a lot of shit to get cleaned up and 'Darth' is one little pile.
ObiWan calls Vader 'Darth' in SW. I thought that the line in this was to try and explain why he uses that. "Darth' is obviously the term used for Sith. I took it as Kenobi's way of saying 'you are no longer a person to me, just a Sith'.
-
Finished Kenobi. Didn't have the free style of Mando, felt like an extension of the original trilogy which I assume was the intention. Had some good bits, some dull patches. But the final lightsaber battle was epic, probably one of the best ones ever
-
There’s talks of a second season “if the fans want it”
I’m in two minds about this, I think it’s a given that the Emperor has put the hard word on DV to focus on important stuff and forget the Kenobi vendetta so unlikely we’ll see him.
What would the show actually have Kenobi do for the next few years ?
