Maori All Blacks v Ireland - 1st Match

I know nothing of Suafoa, I'm surprised he's starting ahead of TK who was one of the few bright spots for the Hurricanes this season. Did Suafoa get any gametime for the Blues?

McMillan is saying that they picked the back three with the weather conditions in mind.
“There were some tough selections, probably at blindside flanker [where Blues 2022 debutant Cameron Suafoa has got the nod], and that back-three mix [where star Hurricanes rookie Moorby was a surprise omission] was probably where we had the most discussion,” McMillan noted.
“We anticipate that it’s going to be a bit wet, and so some of our selections have taken that in mind.”
He also says, as mentioned, that Nankivell hasn't trained due to sickness.

Has important other things on his mind. Wearing the number 23 jersey for Hawkes Bay in the Ranfurly Shield defence against South Canterbury if you must know.

I guess James Lowe & Jamison Gibson-Park will be playing in the test on Saturday, but it would have been awesome to see them in this game.

Henshaw and ringrose in the midfield I guess.
This match should be pretty close, that’s a raw Ireland team.

Love that Bundee O’Aki is pointing at the IRFU symbol, I guess to make sure every knows he’s playing for them and not the Maori ABs!
-
Some experience on the Irish bench too with Healy, Murray and Carbery

TBH I wouldn’t want to play against the Maori team.

Looks like there could be some rain around for the game.
MABs coach mentioned that was part of the selection consideration

Bundee Aki named as captain.

Seems a bit of a middle finger to the coaches, captain and players from his old team.
No motivation lacking then.
