6 episodes of mostly good stuff. My main annoyance is casting a midget to play a 10 year old.
Also liked how they threw away the effects budget this week so the star destroyer looked like the one from Ep4.
They could do a McGregor mini series every few years until he looks as old as Guinness did. Although McGregor is only 7 years younger than Guinness was when he first played Obi Wan.
I remember them talking about that in Rogue One, making it look a bit shit on purpose to match a new hope, which is pretty funny.
Ships in space are too easy for them these days.

Fair enough if you enjoyed it. There was enough key jangling there to keep the nostalgia factor pumping. But on the whole this was a steaming pile. Star Wars is like a great rock band of the past still living off songs from decades ago. Their new stuff is garbage but they only need to play some old tunes and enough people will be happy.
I get what you’re trying to say even if you’re probably being a bit harsh.
The old characters are the ones I care about……I couldn’t give a fuck about Ice Cubes son, the chick from GOT, the inquisitors or the fake Jedi.
Fuck, even Owen and Beru mean more than any of them.
That’s why I like Rogue One the best of the newer films cos it ties in with that era.
That's my point. Disney SW is living off the fumes of the OT. The new characters are mostly shit and they're reliant on nostalgia bait to keep things going. Even the Mandalorian was just a Boba Fett rip off.
It's a shame because there could have been a great series here. Apparently the first draft was of a Sand People war and Obi having to assist without revealing he's a Jedi. That IMHO sounds much better than babysitting Lea and smashing cannon.
No it doesn't. It sounds boring AF unless you want some kind of serious plotline stuff in what is a good v bad fantasy serial.
I prefer to watch SW shows with my 13yr old hat on. Don't over complicate things or search for plot holes or character flaws. SW the original had tons of unbelievable moments and crappy dialogue yet it was one of the best movies ever.
Stop over thinking and if you don't enjoy it for what it is don't watch it.As for 'smashing' canon, if anything this show went out of the way to fill in the gaps and plotholes created by canon.
##spoiler
Vader killed your father - tick
How did Leia know of Obi Wan and why did she search him out for help? - tick
Why hadn't Vader searched out Obi Wan for a decade or so? - tick
The 'last time we met' statement? - tick
How stilted and clumsy lightsaber fighting gets when you are out of practice - tick
Tying the force ghost stuff from ROTJ back into OBW and the most obvious unknown from SW (OBW 'disappearing' when Vader struck him) - tickAbout the only thing they didn't try and fit in was a ham fisted explanation around R2D2
IMO all this is the fault of fans wanting answers for everything. Irony is that when the answers are provided they bitch about them.
The OBW v Vader battle in the finale was better than the dance moves on Mustafar IMO. Awesome stuff.
##endspoilerThere you go, now I have overthought it all
NB (I know RS has my posts blocked and won't read this but I don't care)
All great points
I think I could have done without the first fight between Vader and obiwan…we could have seen how rusty he was at fighting against the inquisitors…one fight like we just got after Vader had a “I’ll do it myself moment”
Didn’t like how he called him darth, cause that’s like a title…should have called him Vader
Three times in this series people left others to die without finishing them off…and they all survived…that probably the roughest bit for me
And some of the timing had GoT s7 issues…sometime they can get between planets in minutes and sometimes it take days
All of that worth it to get that speech from Vader/anikan and that fight as well as all those boxes ticked off

Lucas unwittingly left a lot of shit to get cleaned up and 'Darth' is one little pile.
ObiWan calls Vader 'Darth' in SW. I thought that the line in this was to try and explain why he uses that. "Darth' is obviously the term used for Sith. I took it as Kenobi's way of saying 'you are no longer a person to me, just a Sith'.

Finished Kenobi. Didn't have the free style of Mando, felt like an extension of the original trilogy which I assume was the intention. Had some good bits, some dull patches. But the final lightsaber battle was epic, probably one of the best ones ever

There’s talks of a second season “if the fans want it”
I’m in two minds about this, I think it’s a given that the Emperor has put the hard word on DV to focus on important stuff and forget the Kenobi vendetta so unlikely we’ll see him.
What would the show actually have Kenobi do for the next few years ?

I don't see the point of it. Kenobi has come out of his funk, DV will have to wait until their next meeting on the Death Star. If he gets into a series of small adventures I would rather watch Mando do that

Yeah agreed, any further meeting between them would just be ridiculous.
It would render this scene redundant too !

That scene has almost been made redundant after Kenobi!

Holds up provided Disney don’t decide they need ANOTHER clash between them beforehand

looking back, the series was the opposite of what i thought would happen, i thought we'd see a still hopeful OWK get beaten down and broken after seeing DV to explain why he become a hermit...But at the end of the series he's got his mojo back...been reminded he can do some good AND decided Luke just needs to be left alone...so its kind of weird he just goes to ground
SO...im wondering IF we get another series, it will be about him trying to find the other Jedi, the ones he only just learnt are still out there hiding, so no, big clashes with the major players...but would that be exciting enough?
-
@Kiwiwomble I wouldn’t mind that. Other story lines that could be explored in another season:
- why Luke wants to go to the Academy and what he learns of the clone wars
- why Luke thinks Ben is a ‘great man’
- how Ben/OWK knows Luke has become a good pilot
-
@ACT-Crusader the only thing they need to be careful of and they risk becoming a bit of a joke...the number of Jedi we know survived, ive already seen lots of memes pointing out several powerful jedi survived and its getting close to being silly they didn't do more
think they would really need to drill down into the empires smear campaign, they were always evil "wizards" who followed a cult and tried to take over the republic
-
Anything other than hiding out will see him back on DVs radar. Especially if he went looking for other Jedi. And in Rebels he is found by Darth Maul hanging out on Tattoine. I can’t see him getting up to a bunch of smaller adventures, opens up too many questions and holes if they are wanting to keep the story relatively consistent.

Observed him hooning through Beggars Canyon shooting Womprats with Biggs
(Edit: just realised that is too big an opportunity for them to recreate the podrace sequence)

I always wondered hooning, on what? Poor farmers with fighters…

Not podracers. T16s

i do think we are very close to them having to leave this period alone
I would love a Knights of the Old republic era movie, proper high republic warrior monk shit, maybe some of the mystical stuff, hell a jedi indiana jones tracking down ancient temples and stuff
