It's a pity that Tamatea fielded an unregistered player earlier in the season, because that's what has ultimately cost them their spot in the premiers division. Without the points deduction, Pirates would again have been relegated.

@Nepia The team was Pirates in case you missed that whilst the name Sean Morrison indicated some sort of poach from either Ireland or Marist.
Oh by the way, don't look at the points table for the Nash Cup if you want to continue laughing!

    Altherm Tech V Aotea @ Whitmore Park No 1 - 3.00pm

A change at halfback, also takes away an almost 100% goalkicker. One of those named in the starting lineup might well feature in the Exodus thread shortly (one of the Clubs in the Greene King IPA Championship (Pommie 2nd Div)) if my sources are correct.

@Higgins will be happy with the Tech Women winning the women's competition, after beating Hastings 38 - 7!

That's a double for Tech Women, who also won the Marsh Cup, earlier in the season.

@Stargazer Yes, But it must be recorded that it is a combined team comprising Tech and Taradale players. Having said that Tech had ten of the starting lineup and Taradale five. My leave pass ran out at 6.00pm and they were only then moving from their private celebrations in their rooms into the main lounge shortly before I had to depart. Needless to say they looked extremely happy with themselves. I managed to Petone Shuffled my way to the front of the queue and got one of the first sips out of the Cup when they brought it in!
Incidentally the Hastings 7 points came well into injury time of the second half. A bit gutted that the Ladies did not quite down trou them.

@Stargazer In case you missed it Altherm Tech rolled Aotea 50 odd to 10 in the Maddison Trophy quarter final. Aotea played much better in the second half and really made a decent game of it but most of the damage was done in the first half.

Results Maddison Trophy - Quarter Finals (Sat 2 July 2022)

    Tech 57 - 10 Aotea
    NOBM 69 - 28 Clive
    Taradale 48 - 21 Hastings
    Havelock North 45 - 7 MAC

All results pretty much as I expected, although I didn't expect Havelock North to win with such a big margin.

    Next week's semis:

    Tech v Havelock North
    NOBM v Taradale

Just looked at the match sheet of the Havelock North game. Cooper Flanders scored a hattrick!

Looks like NOBM have beefed up their forward pack by playing three locks at 4, 5, and 6.

    Good move @Stockcar86 ?

My guys have bulked up their backline with a regular No.8 starting on the wing after a couple of wingers went down big time with injuries last week. A clear indication that the Texans will try to grind the Havelock team into the ground up front like they did last time the two teams met. Havelock still persevering with a very similar front row that really struggled last time as well but they do bring in a couple of international players in Bryn Evans and Tony Lamborn . Both loose trios look excitingly strong but they did last time as well and my guys did shade them slightly. Hopefully more of the same this time too.
Havelock looked to have rejigged their backline after their crash bash attempts last time did not work and my guys have upped their aggressive attacking defence considerably since that game so we will have to wait and see the outcome there. Defence is made somewhat easier when your team monopolises the ball it must be said!

@Higgins Did Tim Farrell get red-carded, or did I see that wrong? And why did they move the game to another field?
