    1997 Triumph Adventurer

I googled that and this review came up.....

The Adventurer is a glitzy, cruiser style version of the Thunderbird. It’s an OK motorcycle, thanks mostly to the stupendous Triumph triple engine, but the Triumph Adventurer is about as cool and stylish as purple velvet loon pants

Wound open the Triumph Adventurer's engine sounds like a squadron of Lancasters

    I prefer the latter comment..

Ha - yes, that's the review I got when I first saw it for sale, and googled it. Actually - I'm sure it used to be even more scathing.
But yeah - my mind was made up to buy it by the time I got to "velvet loon pants".

Edit: found my blog entry from the time of buying it:

Anyway – the new bike. A 1997 Triumph Adventurer… when doing a bit of research on it… one of the first reviews I read had described it using the phrase “adds dollop of crass to already glittery, faux concoction.” This intrigued me. But when I went on to read “…the Triumph Adventurer is about as cool and stylish as purple velvet loon pants.” – I bought the bike without ever having actually seen/touched it – let alone sat on it.

And yeah - that description of the sound... pretty accurate. Riding it through central London used to be fun. Many heads turned.

Springboks legend Bryan Habana has labelled ex-Toulon teammate Mamuka Gorgodze as one of the scariest guys he has ever played with.

Big call from Habana would would have played alongside quite a few Bok headcases.

@taniwharugby Eric Rush tells a story of the first time Glen Osbourne rocked up to North Harbour training - he brought a sack of eels as a thank you for the bro's who had given him some gear

Saint-Malo, Brittany, has the highest tides in Europe, with water that can rise over 13 m. These houses (here seen during storm Ciara), are built as a sea wall and 4 layer glass on the front windows

@Victor-Meldrew My last (and most fune ever) job in the UK was Area Manager for an industrial temp agency.

Wonderful source of fuck up stories - 25 mile tailbacks on M25 from blocking Dartford Tunnel, total recall of Dumbo video coz someone spliced in Mickey takes it up the arse etc

But in terms of warehouse I got a call one day to say a temp of pours had reversed a forklift off the mezzanine floor. When I asked if he was alright I was told he was fine as the fall was cushioned by the bosses beemer which the forklift landed on.

    we kept the client....

I was once running a project which involved moving a server from one room to another so an area of wall in a listed building could be replaced over the WE.

Some dumb fluffybunny forgot to physically move the server and cabling on the Friday evening and said server became walled up behind 4 inches of brick..

    Happy memories.

@Bones “The Government had set aside $30m to replace Te Whare Ahuru with a modern facility of the same size, but Dunajtschik’s contribution meant that sum could be redistributed to other mental health projects impoverished consultants around the country, said Health Minister Andrew Little.”

    There, I’ve fixed it.
