I reckon Blackfish changed his mind and is in the bottom of the boat with Big Bird after all.

I kept waiting for Arya to turn back into the "face boss" because then a severe knife wound and hiding in a cupboard for god knows how long and not bleeding out would have been slightly plausible.

Everything seemed to happen off screen in this episode, I guess so they could pay for the CGI for the magic fleet.

The Blackfish storyline clearly has more meaning to the book readers than TV watchers as I only really know of his mana due to book readers telling me.

Couple of days behind you blokes and about to watch it was we speak. Will give my thoughts afterwards. I'm not one to give to much thought to spoilers hence will always jump on here at any given time.....

Loving that Rancid and TR dig the Hound and Bronn as I do, you guys remember those two nearly had a pub brawl about three seasons ago ? that would have been some fight.

I can't remember exactly but the Hound was wounded previously when he took on Brienne ? cos I'm sure fully fit he would have dealt to her.....if one of you blokes could confirm or deny that I would appreciate it.

I have to agree with Baron, this show is up there with Star Trek.....even approaching Star WARS in terms of it's following, surely the CGI can be upgraded to follow suit ?

Some shows do run that whole gauntlet in terms of storyline, special FX etc knowing full well that they could be given the chop at any time ( apparently that's what happened to Hannibal ).......GOT is a phenomenon so doesn't have to adhere to what others do.

So in a nutshell let's fill the screen with Giants, Dragons, White Walkers and massive awesome full screen battles which at their best rival any movie I've ever seen......

You should really check out some of the wiki quotes from the book about Bronn. Some of the descriptions from Cat's POV are awesome.

IIRC the Hound was injured on the neck before fighting the She-beast. He didn't let Arya tend to it and it became infected. So yes that probably caused him to lose to a girl (:

It's interesting how they talk about budget the entire time and then go ahead and blow a huge chunk of it on some pointless Riverrun scenes. Talk about going nowhere. Sansa sends Brienne to get help from BF. BF effectively commits suicide. Brienne sails home. Awesome, just awesome. I was also great that they used precious screen time with some thug sticking his finger up a young guy's arse and Tyrian trying to tell the eunuch a joke. What tremendous time management.

What is particularly galling is that some of the scenes that look really cool in the original trailer turned out to be major non events. I'm thinking about Davos' speech about "not bein mooch of a foia", Cercei "I choose violence" and Pod getting grabbed from behind. The Pod thing was just Bronn messing with him and then grabbing his balls. Don't get me wrong, any scene with Bronn is a scene to savour, but making that out to be a major scene was farked up.

I'm not sure time management is thir core concept. They actually want this to go 8 seasons. So skipping the boring bits (which Martin sure as fuck didn't do in the books) is a bit dumb. Breaking Bad had an entire episode where they tried to kill a fly.

I get fans want to go straight to Clegane Bowl & then Dragons v Giants v White Walkers on undead Mamoths, but this is a tentpole cash cow that they need to draw out as long as they can, not a Youtube short.

I'd think that is so that next episode Cockless & his sister can rock up, smash seven shades of shit out of the fleet & show exactly how badass she is & what a professional fleet looks like & endear themselves to Dani.

I'm more looking forward to Cercei burning all of Kings Landing down with the wildfire I assume the little birds have found while her & her zombie strolls off with her son over his shoulder.

And Tyrion riding one of the little dragons

Way to miss the point. There is more than enough material for them to drag this series on to the end of time. There are multiple characters in the books that aren't in the series, not to mention sub-plots. This isn't about dragging shit on, it's using the time they have available in the episodes to provide decent scenes. For example, the Black Fish's last stand or another John/Bran/Ramsay scene would have been far more preferable to Tyrion offering wine and telling a joke to the two most pointless characters in the entire series.

They had to shoot there for Dani's arrival, so extending that scene cost nothing. They don't have limitless cash. Also for many fans those characters are favourites, I get they are not yours, but the Grey Worm - hot slave chick pairing is one a lot of fans really want, so a scene adding depth to them is a good scene from that point.

Don't have limitless cash? I wasn't asking for a giant trying to mount a direwolf, while all three dragons are watching with white walkers taking a crafty un behind a castle.

BTW I thought it was about dragging the series out to 8 seasons. Now its the cash apparently. Oh yes, and the enduring popularity of Greyworm and his missus. Fans would boycott the show in droves if those 2 were left out.

Hard to get extra seasons if your show loses money. You don't think they are working to a budget?

No, I was not aware they were working on a budget. Wow, there was me thinking it all came for free. Cheers for the heads up.

Once again, I wasn't asking for Dragons just fewer unnecessary scenes that add nothing to the story. In your first post you said the boring parts needed to be included to extend the series to 8 seasons. That's complete nonsense because shit loads have to be cut out of the original story to have this show end before the boy playing Bran dies of old age.

Now you're saying budget restraints are the reason for lotsa Grey Worm?

I don't exactly think a link to that article is definitive proof of the enormous appeal of those 2. At any rate, they didn't get "together" until season 5 so I'll go out on a limb here and say that the show would comfortably survive without them.

First its your definition of an unnecessary scenes. As I pointed out for a lot of their viewers those weren't unnecessary. Personnally I'd view any scene where Dani has her top on to be filler, but I can at least recognise others like different bits.

Second in terms of budget and stretching, they are stretching it out as long as they can & budget wise that means limiting the locations & the characters. Yes, they could stretch it by shooting 10 characters they didn't include from the book, but that'd cost a shitload. That's not hard to understand surely?

That scene stretched it, had 3 of the most popular characters, cost zero & had no CGI, and added the Grey Worm-Hot slave combo love fest a big audience like. They could have showed John Snow as you wanted, and that would have been more "nesscessary" how? I get he's hot, but still.. And you'd have to leave out the CGI giant. Or Ramsey patting a dog & eating an apple. What vital scene do you feel robbed of by those 50 seconds of chat? Bran sitting in a tree?

As mentioned, this is a show with a shitload going on and limited episode time in which to tell the story. With that in mind, perhaps you can tell me how that scene can be deemed necessary. Oh yes that's right. They need to draw it out for 8 seasons because they just don't have enough material. And that scene "cost zero". Fark me, Dani wipes out slavery on the show but it's still alive and well on the set of GoT.

Considering the show apparently couldn't survive without the Eunuch love match, I'm surprised they haven't pushed for better pay (or to be paid more than zero).

Well colour me disappointed with this series. Why couldn't they just have the mountain tear all of those religious idiots apart? I thought the HS said they all wanted to, and would be honored to die for their cause? Yet one of them gets his head ripped off and they all pussy out?

And what's with people dying but not even showing the fight?! And then fucking around with scenes like RS describes, which are of little consequence and no action. If BF was going to die (why would he just commit suicide?) then they should have shown him cut down 10 or 15 blokes before heroically going down.
