Wellington club footy always looks stacked with talented young outside backs and you bring back Milner-Skudder?

i pointed out in one of the threads last week, NZ rugby has a huge hard on for "experience", personally i put it down to having a couple of small competitions rather than one long one so games have too much riding on them, no one has the time or carouge to write off a couple of games bloody new tallent anymore

    @Canes4life

I don't see a whole lot of club footy, just some games from Hutt Old Boys Marist, OBU and Petone. But me oh my, there are some big strong lads out there who would surely do the jersey more justice than a sadly broken NMS

@Canes4life I think they (WRFU) might be struggling financially after they lost a huge amount last financial season, hence possibly the reason they are mostly going for local players rather than any big money outsiders. Perhaps they have learnt their lesson with Dominic Bird!?

Is Owen Franks going to play in the NPC? He's signed with the Hurricanes for 2023 as well

I was half expecting him to be in the Wellington squad so he wouldn't have to move around. But he wasn't in that squad

    Is he back with Canterbury?

@Duluth I think he lives down there so that would make the most sense. Canterbury are stacked in the propping department with Newell, Williams, Jager, Brewis etc so will he even get much game time?

Yeah, that's the reason he has a tough choice

He claimed he wanted to go to the RWC when he came back to NZ (I think he has almost zero chance). Skipping the NPC wouldn't help, particularly after missing so much rugby for the Canes this year. Also battling for game time in the NPC wouldn't be a good look

Damn, he'd been making a lot of progress, and was in the Blues WTG at times. Apparently he didn't really take rugby seriously until graduating university.

@KiwiMurph it looks good, question though, does it have a track around it? if not then why the big curved ends?

@bobily2 yeah he transitioned at the beginning of the club year to a tight-head prop. There's no doubt he's going to be mobile, whether he can scrum is another question altogether.

I'm a little perplexed at some of these signings, do we not have better options coming through than Filipo and the always injured Milner-Skudder? The tight five is very average aswell.

There’s plenty of talent in the top try scorers list year in year old they just never get a chance because we have to use recycled players.

Does anyone have lineups for the match in tokoroa this afternoon? Might head across and pretend the shield is on the line. Hoping Dmac will play.

@ARHS No, both provinces seem to be reluctant to keep their supporters informed.

@ARHS I'm going to head down to Tokoroa myself as the weather looks OK.

I am assuming that both teams will be missing all players involved in their club finals, as well as those with Samoa and Tonga.

A full strength side would be decent. Something like this?

    1 Jared Proffit
    2 Bradley Slater
    3 Kyle Stewart
    4 Josh Lord
    5 Scott Barrett
    6 Tupou Vaa’i
    7 Tom Florence
    8 Pita Sowakula
    9 Logan Crowley
    10 Beauden Barrett
    11 Kini Naholo
    12 Jordie Barrett
    13 Teihorangi Walden
    14 Jacob Ratumaitavuki-Kneepkens
    15 Stephen Perofeta

A 10 team, home & away, full strength NPC, replacing SR and the current shit NPC would be fun...
