where is the IRB's video featuring that Welsh piston wristed gibbon to come on and tell everyone how fucking dumb Barnes was and how there should have been a red and a yellow.

    Et voila

'Should be a red': Owens' very different take on the Porter yellow

'Should be a red': Owens' very different take on the Porter yellow

Retired centurion referee Nigel Owens has disagreed with last Saturday’s decision to only yellow card Ireland prop Andrew Porter.

If current refs and recently retired "best ref in the game" can't agree on what should have happened when applying the same "easy to follow, logical" framework, surely someone needs to take another look before things get even more out of hand.

Interesting his take on Bower, whom many here thought he was one of the better AB players on Saturday.

@KiwiMurph yep, so many glaring examples of a disconnected, slow, passive defence in this series alone, let alone what he has 'achieved' in 5 years!

@The-Irishman i think a fair few on here have come around to bower

I think these videos are often fair in their actual points...just under a layer of bias jabs...to me it looks like Bowers "worst attempt at a cheap shot" is someone bailing on a fair tackle when they see the ball has already gone

At least nige is consistent in what he believes and doesn’t care what hemisphere they are from . So many people who have a voice these days you can’t say the same .

Not only is it quite ineffective. It also makes the AB's the most boring team in the world to watch for about 50% of a rugby match.

@The-Irishman After about 5 minutes it's obvious that our defensive structure is terrible. Tactic of always having a loose forward on the sideline on attack has to be more flexible ... Papalii completely wasted out there.

Our front row is pretty awful on defence. Start Hodgman and Taukei'aho immediately.

and all we do is crowd space for our outsides!!

watch Ireland, they often attack with 1 player in the open 3rd of the field. Their tight formation allows them to pick us apart with short passes if we spread our players, or sweep out wide if we compress.

Our formation has only one way of attacking.

@The-Irishman That last one is interesting, because I'd had a good look at that after several suggestions that it was Jordan who got caught.

Bower does actually get across to Hansen and in fact grabs his arm as he runs through, so it's a moot point if he would have made the tackle.

However, Rieko's not convinced he's going to so he marks on Hansen, which requires Jordan to mark up on Keenan.

Great vision and long pass by Hansen to Lowe, who has too much space for Jordan to drift. And then another pinpoint infield pass and the try.

Largely, I'd give credit to Ireland's excellent work - arguably Bower could/should have gone a pace wider, but you're asking a lot of a prop to read the play and recognize he's going to have a wing running at him..

The rest of the Rugby World is laughing at the All Blacks and until Clown Foster and his useless cronies go their laughter is only going to get louder and louder.

Lots of posters have been saying on here since 2017 what does McLeod do? Yet he keeps being allowed to get away with a terrible defensive system.

In fairness, the crowing is only so loud because of the pain the ABs subjected on the rest of the world from about 2005 through to 2015/6. The blip in 2009 against SA notwithstanding.

Same in most sports when a period of dominance comes to an end.

The other thing I'd say about that Squidge video is that, while I think he tends to over-egg his analysis - his basic premise is right.

Ireland is playing very well-drilled, patterned rugby. They know what they're trying to achieve (lots of numerical mismatches) and when they get them they're exploiting them efficiently.

When they beat us last year, I think I remember writing that it was one of the best performances I'd seen against the ABs. I didn't realise at the time quite how well-planned it was.

It is very impressive rugby and will be hard to beat next year - but, there will be lots of analysts looking very closely at it. They might need some dry powder! 🙂

They might be playing their best rugby in between RWCs....
