How do they expect to get through the season with just five loose forwards named to cover three positions and, more spectacularly so, four outside backs to cover three positions?

I'd think the likes of Haig and Stodart will get some time in the loose. While Te Hiwi and Timu can cover the wings, while Asi, Faleafaga and Hurley can all play in the back three.

@SouthernMann if we're already saying the development team will have to play then i really feel weve stuffed up the balance of the squad, its what we saw with the highlanders

Otago squad for its pre-season clash against Southland. Strange the Highlanders most recent no10, is back at fullback. Strong backline. Still don't rate Millar Otago: Sam Gilbert (co-captain), Vilimoni Koroi, Josh Timu, Thomas Umaga-Jensen, Jona Nareki, Cameron Millar, Kemara Hauiti-Parapara, Rupeni Tamani, Sean Withy (co-captain), Oliver Haig, Will Tucker, Fabian Holland, Saula Ma’u, Henry Bell, Abraham Pole. Reserves: Harry Press, Tau Koloamatangi, Josh Hohneck, Will Stodart, Taylor Dale, Jin Ho Mun, Raymond Nu’u, Jake Te Hiwi, Rohan Wingham, Leroy Ferguson, Finn Hurley, Jeremiah Asi, Jack Leslie.

@SouthernMann wow, interesting captains, happy with those

I think we knew Gilbert would be 15 rather than 10 with Ioane, Millar and Koroi...althougth we might see Gilbert at 10 more than Koroi now which i dont hate

    edit: i like pictures

I'm interested to see the balance of the loose forwards come the season proper. It will be either our FIFO from Waikato or Lio-Willie at 8. I think they will put Lentjes at 6 and Withy at 7. I'd be disappointed if we don't push Withy hard this season.

watching now, have to take the jersey numbers with a grain of salt, two 13's on the pitch and it looks like Ioane on in 18

26-0 to the Razorbacks at the moment

Jona Nareki was on James Marshall what a lad pod, at the time of recording he said he's out 8 weeks, so if we are still alive in 7 weeks, he'll be available

Back later. Gone for a scan. Otago may as well have hung that sign out on the office door yesterday.

well it was a season where we just couldn't finish the job i.e wellington, counties and Canterbury game, Injuries in the midfield took it's toll, Ricky Jackson's injury was a big loss as the coaches didn't seem to trust the 3rd hooker Robertson? Positive's young players such as Holland, Haig, Millar, Withy & Henry Bell. As for next season if hauitu-Parapara the halfback doesn't return that's fine as I liked the look of Mclea more if I'm honest, if Josh ioane leaves then I trust Cam to continue on at 10 with Faleafaga making his way into the 23 next yr.
