@Kruse I think you made the same mistake as I did. This is a movie of a Netflix TV show. So the TV level sidekicks fit perfectly.

I too thought it was an actual movie.

Ha - yeah, cheers... I did wonder - when I did some cursory side-research, I half-noticed something about a TV-show, but was too focused on confirming who each TV-level sidekick actor was, to follow up on that.

That also might explain that maybe I hadn't missed as much as I thought... the "Into the Badlands" guy suddenly having a nemesis to fight, that I was sure I'd never seen before.
And the negligible backstory about blond-dreads chick just appearing and being a thing.

I'll have to watch that movie as Wu Assassins was a fun watch. No Katheryn Winnick though.

    By-The-Way... (BTW)...
I seem to recall there's been at least one Ferner claiming(/bragging?) that they've never seen a single John Wick movie.
Give yourself a fucking massive upper-cut, then, when your stupid head is lying on the floor mouth agape, take your dick'n'balls and give yourself a wee tea-baggin'.

John Wick movies are not clever. They are not original. They ARE derivative. But they also ARE a metric-fuck-tonne of fun.

If any fluffybunny claims to like classics such as Commando, Rambo, any HK-era-Woo, any Hollywood-era-Woo, any fucking stupid-fun-guns-and-shit-action-movies-of-EVER...
but NOT John Wick... you're either a lying hipster dipshit, a dead-set liar fluffybunny, a straight-up stupid fluffy-bunny, or fluffy-bunny retard.
AND... (Sorry - meant to find the quote from the retard Welsh player who threatened the wife of another player on twitter, and cleverly re-use that, and... just couldn't. Brain-too-dumb from watching stupid derivative americanised versions of gun-fu movies.)

I feel bad for never watching a John Wick movie now.

Actually no I don’t, it’s offensive you’ve mentioned it in the same sentence as Commando.

First one is very much in the vein of Commando (lots of winking at the audience)

What do you mean ? Commando is a harrowing tale of a war vet being dragged into one final mission to save his family. There’s no comedy involved.

    Sniper: The White Raven

Apparently based on a true story from when Russia invaded the Crimean Peninsula in 2014? when a Ukranian Pacifist Physic Professor joins the Military and trains to be a sniper.

Anywhoo, not a bad watch, although the ending seemed a bit contrived how they showed it, it may have happened that way, but it just seemed off.

@Kruse TW - yes, inside 5 mins, then no more.

3 Pluses out of 5 I'd hate to go to war!

    Fistful of Vengeance

I watched this last night. As I mentioned the Wu Assassins series was decent enough. This was not. IMDb's rating of 4.4 is accurate.

Halfway through The hand that rocks the cradle which I hadn’t seen in about 30 or so years.

Rebecca De Mornay is hot and batshit. Just how I like my women.

Not a bad thriller all round.

It’s weird. I visited London in 95 and I don’t remember gangs of youths dressed all in white walking around listening to Beethoven and beating homeless people.

I must have missed the Running man when it screened on TV as well.

    The Grey Man.

I liked this, action a plenty, bitof an underlying story.

    Ana De Armas

3.5 so implausible moments out of 5 I guess that could be plausible...actually make it 4 cos Ana

I'm reading the book at the moment... soooo much implausibility... but I can see how it would make a sweet dumb-action movie.
It's made me consider some sort of action-o-meter.... ie: action vs plausibility/brain-cells
    eg:
Matthew Reilly - 10/10. Suitable for SEVERE ADHD.
Jack Reacher - around... 6/10? Maybe 7? There are some discussions which aren't in the middle of a firefight.
The Grey Man - seems to be about 8 or 9.... very basic storyline/dialogue progressing from action-scene to action-scene.
Shit... I see this becoming my weekend project...

Oh - and anything with Ana in it becomes a 5 for me.
(5 fucking INCHES!!!... phwoooar!!!! Ah, shit. Should have said 6.)

use to really enjoy Matthew Reilly for a easy to follow fast paces read.....but the last few have been like someone trying to out Matthew Reilly Matthew Reilly...every one had a code name/call sign...everything over explained...recaps of stuff from previous chapters!

I just downloaded one more as its a new story and so with any luck it was just the series i was reading

@Kiwiwomble TBF I reckon he writes his books almost like a movie script and would probably work better on the screen.

I think a few have been picked up by Studios having options to make them (Great Zoo of China is one I think) but these have been on the table for some years so dont think they will play out

much like another book I cant recall right now, that was a fast paced read probably better suited to the big screen, again, movie studios have had scripts written but I read it maybe 5 or 6 years back, may have even had an IMDB profile IIRC...(pretty sure the guy that wrote the book I am thinking of has done several other movie scripts anyway - hate when I cant remember crap like that)

@Kiwiwomble the one I am thinking of, I Am Pilgrim, by Terry Hayes, says it is in pre-production https://www.imdb.com/name/nm0371249/?ref_=tt_ov_wr

Ha yeah I guess Jurassic Park inspired him to write that book!

Yeah - he says himself that he writes books as if he's writing a movie script.
It's his biggest ambition to get a movie made of one of his books... I've always thought the Scarecrow books could maybe work. Great Zoo of China would be a cheap CGI nightmare.
But... he HAS had an actual movie made from a direct-to-script he wrote recently... released a couple of months ago. He insisted on directing it himself too, I believe. Interceptor. I've downloaded it, haven't brought myself around to watch it yet. I just know it's going to be bad. Pretty hungover today... might give it a go. Summerslam then Interceptor... give the brain a rest.
If I can get the Videostream/chromecast working .... these things are fucking great when they work - but then they just stop working out-of-the-blue, and it does my fucking head in. Nothing makes sense. youtube-chromecast works, but videostream-chromecast doesn't. Nothing has changed.

    Interceptor
Written and directed by Matthew Reilly
If that name doesn't mean anything to you, it's a pseudonym for "super dumb, and fairly fun".

    • Titwatch: zero
    • Budget: low. It's pretty much a single-location movie. Total cast of: fuck-all.
    • Cameo by Chris Hemsworth but - as his wife is the lead actress
    • PC-box-ticking: unnecessary backstory of sexual harassment in the military; PLUS: unnecessary racist motivation for 1 minion

2.5 very vague/confused bad-guy motivations out of 5 "Holy shit the lead is a woman, AND the president of US is a woman? What is this - opposite-land?" 's.
Jesus - the motivation of the bad guy really was weird. Nuke 16 US cities because... something about his dad being an idiot and yet got handed a sweet ambassador-to-the-UN job? The system is slightly corrupt? So - nuke the whole fucking thing? Or - no - actually, getting paid to do it. By... somebody?

it was real shit and not in a good way, I prefer D grade movies that at least don't try to be serious. 1.5 out of 5 would be generous and not worthy of any review.. if his writing his implausibility is low .. in movie making it was high, just stay away
