What are you listening to, right now................

I mentioned Mike Patton in my previous post as being an outstanding singer but this bloke may have had an even more impressive set of pipes. The bit at the end where he brings it all home is particularly spine tingling, another rock star gone too soon.

Not hugely to be honest. There's a pretty fine line between blues being awesome and not and they're a bit too......can't put my finger on it. Another awesome late Texan guitarist/vocalist was Johnny Winter. Best slide guitarist ever and just as importantly like SRV he was a genuine white bluesman ( extremely so in his case ). Will always have a bit of a soft spot for ZZ Top too although they've done just as much crap as good stuff all in all....

Back to SRV, remember when one ad would take up a whole break ?

This is pretty cool despite being voiced by that guy who does lots of jingles now......

Anybody following the Stairway To Heaven plagiarism case? The jury has just retired. I'll be interested to see how they rule.

Definite similarities in the song and interesting how cos of the Statute of limitations they could only sue after LZ released it again. Not sure why they didn't do it to start with ?

There's only so many chord progressions in the world, boggles my mind how Deep Purple got away with this for example.....( you only need to listen to the first couple of notes )

Moody Blues ? or am I missing something ?

MC Hammer rather naively stole samples from Rick James AND Prince in his debut album. RJ tried to sue but settled for a co writing credit for "Superfreak/U can't touch this". Not sure what happened for 'When doves cry/Pray" though.......
-

From the other forum I know you're only a couple of years older than me so did you have a Dad who got you into that sort of stuff as I do ? Add John Lee Hooker, Muddy Waters and Allman Bros to the list of awesome bluesmen......

If your ex claimed JW she can't be that bad :-)
