    Another post missing the point.
Not doing it is the very stuff the coaches were annoyed about. Instinct to go wide when it isn’t on.

On the suggestion though Clarke did try coming infield for a burst a couple of times IIRC. Jordan, however was conspicuously absent and JB stopped appearing where he was needed

Foster seems to blame the players for their poor play at every point. "They don't do the awesome things I tell them to do" seems to be his perennial cry.

I call BS on that. I say they are doing what he tells them to do. Otherwise he would drop them, like any coach with players who don't stick to the game plan.

It's only afterwards that he has to find someone to blame.

Are you sure? If anything Foster has been too supportive and shielded the players (publicly at least).
Maybe in the other thread you could support this “perennial cry”
If they are playing to the plan at the start of the game it is quite obvious when they go off plan under pressure and to an instinctive mode. The big problem is that this generation and lower level rugby in NZ hones instinct that has been shut down at the test level.
    Square peg, round hole.

Better execution last week and we score 30+

We dominated. Just couldn't convert into points

Then it hides the fact that we still haven't consistently found the solution for the power and pressure game that most of our rivals bring against us.
Australia are a different kettle of fish. They will play their style and it is pretty rare to see an Oz team play a limited, disciplined pressure game.

That are we are reactive team that can't string together consistent performances and likely to lose knockout games because of it.

Also probably rely on emotion to "get up" for the odd good performance that papers over the cracks of poor selection and poor coaching.

That they created a book of their learnings and finally all learnt to read.

I didn't see that at all. I felt we were the better side, but we never once looked the dominant side.

We scored off a lineout drive, and a turn-over lineout when they were not ready to defend. While we made metres up the field in the first half, we never looked like cracking them. As we tired, defending got easier for them. We simply have lost any sting in our attack.

Also "dominating" while not being able to get points is pretty much how the All Blacks always lose. (It's only under Foster that we have consistently moved to actually being a much worse side than out opposition.) I say "dominating" because if you are unable to score points, you aren't actually dominating.

These players don't become shit overnight, we have seen patches in several tests in the past 12 months that proves just this, so why are we only getting 10 or 20 mins a test of quality test rugby?

I'm genuinely convinced it's a collective head/mental thing. And while that's down to Foster to fix, the players need to fix that as well - but I'm pretty convinced Foster's not the person to lead that fix.

As above, if the players aren't doing what the coach wants, why weren't more dropped after the Irish test series?

Very true, but he's got himself into a position where that option was pretty limited - some thru injuries, some thru excessive caution and always being on the back-foot. Big gripe for me is how a relative newbie has one bad game and then goes out of favour (it's almost as if he reads The Fern...) Needs to be a wee bit bolder as he was with the front row.

I can’t shake the feeling that Foster is overly pally with the players. Good relationships yes, but there have to be times when the hair dryer comes out. Joe is certainly known to have an industrial grade one. And Fozzie also doesn’t come across as a winner, whilst recognising how shallow that sounds.
Who was it who said winning is a habit?

Who do we think is favorite tonight?

I guess you would have to think the All Blacks would be warm favorites.

Obviously someone connected to either the NZ Selectors (Fosters Mob) and/or the NZRFU does not agree you you given this three year contract awarded little more than eight months ago

    Ardie/Scooter/Paps.

That's fucking awful - bring a 7 on at 8, move a slow footed lock to 6, and move the 8 to 7.

Mex is adamant Paps is not a 7.

what is he then? update: 8? Ok. That might have some merit. But he needs to play there. Didn't catch why Mexted doesn't like Gus or Hosea at 8.

if the loose forwards are dominating who is letting Ardie down to win 2/8? Did a journalist ask him?

That doesn’t mean he is an automatic AB selection though. Shame he is tied to NZ could probably pick up some good dollars up north
