An absolute classic. I love watching the reruns of that show. And Hogan's Heroes. So many brilliant gags. Don't forget the Cone of Silence

@canefan Yeah, Clone of Silence is another ripper ! ...from a show that started in the 60's the phone & weapon gadgets were brilliant... as you say had plenty of good gags as well, same goes for Hogan's Heroes.

At the risk of a #booboo this popped up in my suggested YouTube videos ...

Pretty sure this has been mentioned...

. .. but getting lots of follow on vids on the series and the stories behind the show.

Awesomely cool back in the early 80s when 1999 was so far far into the future.

I used to love that show. The ships had a cool mechano-like vibe, and some pretty decent actors in there too. I didn't know it was a Gerry Anderson show

Joe 90 was on tele just at the start of my memories, perhaps a little before my time. But I do recall my older bro being a fan. And it was probably not replayable for the reasons described in the following video ...

I always found the acting a bit wooden in that show

Loved both of those shows. Buck Rogers and the 25th Century as well

There's an ad running currently for Audi.

Car has gull wing doors and fold up cut away steering wheel.

Reminds me of the cars from Logan's Run.

We're watching the 1960's Maigret on a vintage UK TV Channel.

Aging production values but well-written and some great acting with Rupert Davies as Maigret and NZ's very own Ewen Solon as Lucas. Really good - and can see why it has a 8..1 rating on IMDB.

It was great. It's showing on FTA here so I must record a few episodes for nostalgia

Hard to go wrong with Mel Brooks as a creator. The film of a few years back was pretty good too.

I have a soft spot for Anne Hathaway too

    Had to edit. Bloody autocorrect.

How does "gull wing" become "following"?

@antipodean Sorry to be all pedant but that's the movie version isn't it?

I can remember watching the show, thinking the cars were awesome - just checked and the cars don't look as awesome as I remember and wiki notes the show flopped and didn't even get a full season.

Does anyone else remember Ark II? The ape and the uniforms look exactly how I remember, but the truck looks different.

Apparently yes. I've no idea if I've ever watched it, I just recall loving the show as a very young child.

UFO is better. Also has a gull wing car.

I’ve been watching this too. Seeing the Rowan Atkinson ones sparked my interest and I was curious as to how the 1950s show would stack up. Sound quality and sets are much inferior but the stories and the acting compare very well IMO.

    @Victor-Meldrew

As an aside, have you watched any of the Michael Gambon version of Maigret? From what I’ve seen, it is pretty faithful to the books, in spirit at any rate.
