TBH, I would be interested in how they do it with the main "storyline" completed.

There's 4 more books already written in the source material, so...

    so perhaps

the original mission wasn't necessary if old mate Reece lives with his tumour...

Yeah, not much of a spoiler, but...
    ##spoiler
yeah, just maybe the tumour isn't so much of an issue as originally presented. I thought this was strongly hinted at, or outright said, at the end of Book 1 - but maybe for the TV show they didn't want to - in case it DID turn out to be a 1-season flop? Doesn't sound like any TV/Movie director/exec I've ever seen though - they love to "tease" the next one... if only to put pressure on the company to actually make it.

    Didn't they:

Have a scene where the specialist said it was easily fixable via an op immediately? But Reece wanted to do his list ... so maybe it doesn't need to be done immediately after all and he gets it done between seasons.

I haven't seen the show yet, and my memory of the books is a little fuzzy - but I think something like that happens in book 2.
But from some comments others have made here about the show - it does sound like they've picked bits out of later books, so....

Bear - just have the last ep to go.

Fantastic scripting, acting, direction, filming etc. Interesting characters. I am enjoying it but in all of its search for authenticity every now and then it does something really jarring on the food front.
    ##spoiler
an example would be the pastry chef dude, after all of his dedication and study toward making a perfect donut gets a 'revelation' to use a yeasted dough rather than a cake one. WTF? Donuts are a yeasted dough. That's your start point.
    ##endspoiler

I've never worked in a US kitchen or for a US chef but I think the obsession levels and toxic environments are actually realistic over there. The kitchen talk and constant 'yes chef' stuff is well overdone from my experience but I do understand that's how they have taken something and become over-serious with it.
I will disagree with the notion the he worked like that at Noma though. Noma is well known as a very quiet zen like kitchen and not a place of high stress

    so, Westworld.

I know I liked it, but at the same time it missed the mark at time, sometimes trying to be a bit clever?

    Assume that was the finale?

There seemed to be a lot of hints at "one last adventure" in the last few minutes... so 1 more season?

I got the impression she was talking about going to "the Valley Beyond" - and it might be set there?
Which, presumably, would mean... yeah - a Western. But - I can't think of any possible storyline anywhere close to the "stakes" of the more recent serieseses.

    Devil in Ohio

Brooding series about satanic abuse in Ohio. Two episodes in and an atmospheric slow-burner. 7/10 so far

So I’m giving Rings of Power a go and I’m no JRR fanboy so have no issue with lore, so it’s not that.

I’m most of the way through ep1 and I’m thinking this is expensive dogshit. Not much of a story so far, disjointed and with pretty much wooden acting. Please tell me it gets better quickly.

The problem is not the show, but mysognisitic, racist arseholes who can't get with the modern age

Yeah last episode was fucking dire. Numenor is the biggest part, and it's arse. The united nations of numenor mothers seemed woke to me (and I'm pretty lefty woke type) and then the elf protest was so much like a school play. Really bad acting and bad writing (elves stealing our jobs WTAF?). Galadriel acts like a moody, dumb teen - not a thousands of years old super being.

    Predictions by me

Oh, and Halbrand is Sauron - you heard it here first. Use their fears to control them? Whoa.
Meteor man is a Balrog, too.
