more than half of mates in high school rocked one of those. one of the guys was a pretty good artist so they had sick Iron Maiden ones too

A mate of mine had Yngwie Malmsteen written on his school bag. He accidentally left it in a doctor's waiting room once and the nurse thought that was his name when asking around.
There were plenty of logos from 1980s metal bands that appeared on books, bags, etc.

Really arty kids could draw their own. I never could I just settled for trying to play their tunes on the Guitar or Bass.
