@Kiwiwomble yeah is pretty scary, if the approach to the son wasnt heavy handed enough, the approach to the father was mental.
I guess you can understand to an extent every single interaction is treated like a potential threat, but they seem incapable of managing these beyond use of force, which in ones like this that obviously make the media, are excessive use of force.

Yeah, i've had a US trip planned that got Covided, but the main guy I was going to visit is moving across the border to Vancouver. So I basically wont even bother with the US now (was going to make my way from LA to Seattle originally).

Haha I'm pretty much white when I don't get any sun, so I'd be good in early August if it's a bad winter in Sydney (like this year).
I did have a lady tell me I was the first Mexican she'd seen with green eyes when I was in LA. She was from Equador and she was also concerned that I couldn't speak Spanish "anymore". This was before Lord of the Rings so she had no idea where NZ was. How Bizarre was huge at the time and I also couldn't convince her that he wasn't from Central/South America.

I agree, and I would add this cop behaviour and most cop behaviour that makes the news is the result of poor mental health. Police organisations are ok at teaching police to make it home at the end of their shift, but they don't teach police how to survive emotionally. It's not a narrative that gets much airtime, but take it from me, mental health issues a pretty damn common in frontline police. They can end up in a downward spiral that the officer doesn't necessarily recognise let alone stop.
