Shows that Captain's challenge is a sensible idea.

Fiji lost that. Bad mistakes at the end.

Pretty disgusted with the NZ league team. Completely devoid of a kicking game, a kick chase and a spark. Just god awful horrible.

    Oz next week by 50.

Meh, not too fussed, a win's a win and good to have a decent hitout before the Kangaroos.

We'll be much better next week.

Wow great match. Terrific by nz back 3 of Manu Rapana and Mulitalo. Edge of the seat stuff at last in this World Cup

It was a tough game and sure we didn’t do ourselves any favours at times, but am still pretty happy about getting the win from how we started.

Knockout WC finals do bring the drama.

    Bring on the Aussies.

Hopefully that was the game to focus the Kiwis after having three training runs previously. Also, hope it lulls the Aussies into a false sense of security.

yep without those three we struggled for any attacking impetus. A couple of good touches from Dylan Brown (cut out pases) putting both Ronaldo and Jordan in space, but not a great day out.

Take the win and move on I guess, but Fiji will be gutted they let us through, they played well

Not that anyone cares but this is my personal ratings:

    Nz:

    1. J Manu, 8.5, involved in everything, sparked most of their attack
    2. R Mulitalo, 7.0, a couple of great moments, but a few stupid mistakes as well
    3. P Hiku, 7.5, Solid. No mistakes, but nothing brilliant either
    4. C Nicoll-Klokstad, 6.5, Not involved a lot, couple of mistakes
    5. J Rapana, 7.5, kicked well, pissed a few people off like usual.
    6. D Brown, 5.5, not at his best
    7. J Hughes, 7, Hampered by an injury for most of the game. But stepped up when required.
    8. J Bromwich, 6.5, quiet but solid.
    9. B Smith, 6.5, Solid, wasn't able to realy cut though much
    10. J Fisher-Harris, 7, charged straight up with no fear like usual.
    11. K Bromwich, 6.5, Quiet.
    12. N Asofa-Solomona, 6.5, interesting position to start in. Not realy able to dominate
    13. J Tapine, 7.5, Solid. Made plenty of metres like usual.
    14. I Papalii, 6.0, Quiet
    15. K Foran, 7.5, helped get nz back into the game
    16. B Nikora, 6.5, Scored a flukey try. Quiet other than that
    17. I Liu, 7, Ran hard. Never stopped trying

    Fiji

    1. S Turuva, 9.0, Absolutely announced himself to the world. No fear on attack or defence
    2. M Sivo, 7.5, Scored a good try, busy other than that
    3. S Valemei, 6.0, not at his best
    4. K Naiqama, 7.0, Scored two tries, was done by ronaldo, tried his heart out
    5. V Karawalevu, 6.5, quiet
    6. A Koroisau, 6.0, poor game for his standards, not sure halves is his position
    7. B Wakeham, 7.0, Kicked well, brilliantly saved a try, but make a few mistakes as well
    8. K Sims, 6.5, not great defence. But offered something slightly different on attack
    9. P Tagituimua 7.0, Good service, ok on defence
    10. T Kamikamica, 6.5, Ran hard like usual, but made a few costly errors.
    11. V Kikau, 7.0, got a try assist, but not realy able to impose other than that
    12. S Wong, 7.0, Solid from the youngster
    13. T Sadrugu, 6.5, Quiet
    14. B Nakubuwai, 8.0, Best of Fiji's pack
    15. L Manuel-Liolevave, 6.5, Quiet
    16. K Vuniyayawa, 7.0, Ran hard.

Personally don't like our forward pack balance . Would bring NAS back into the front row and not give him as many minutes. Likewise would replace Jesse with Spencer Liu and I guess JWH is back into the rotation is in the mix as well after his enforced sit down. Perhaps Nikora starts in the back row.

I think a better balanced pack is required against Australia.
