The Resort
Okay, yeah - kinda enjoyed this.
Just the right mix of whimsy and cynicism.
Some mystery, I guess? But not really. Storyline wasn't really the highlight, it mostly came down to the characters.
Maybe the first half of the series - storyline was a factor? But 2nd half... pure character-driven. And yeah - just a nicely balanced cocktail of angst, whimsy, dementia, heartbreak, youthful hope, blah, blah, fucking blah.Tit-watch: zero.
Twist-watch: average.4 wacky-latino-characters out of 5 semi-wacky-gringo-characters.

@Bones a 2nd season? While I largely enjoyed it (ending was weak) not sure I'll be in for a 2nd season.
I'll cancel our date night then.

Yeah - thinking about it this morning.... the ending was "weak" - but I also kinda respected that.
With "time travel" being involved... there's always the temptation/expectation for some kind of "twist".
Which - they didn't do. (Or... did they?)##spoiler
The kid exhibiting the same symptoms of "memory-leak"... does that just mean that it is a common side-effect of Pasaje? OR... is he a child version of the crazy-santa guy... who "later" actually travels back in time? Would be one explanation for the 'prescient scene' in the mural.
##endspoilerI will be back for S2. I can see it going quite well, or quite wrong. If they try TOO much to be TOO clever, they might fuck it up. But... I'll give them the benefit of the doubt for now, give it a go, and see what they do with it.

HBO has canceled “Westworld” after four seasons, the network announced Friday. The news comes just under three months after the series aired its Season 4 finale Aug. 14.
Variety is told a multitude of factors went into the decision to end the sci-drama, including the production’s hefty price tag, combined with dwindling viewership and an ongoing evaluation of programming across the board at HBO’s new parent, Warner Bros. Discovery.

The Ipcress File
The remake, not original.
Joe Cole & Lucy Boynton
A bit of a slow burner, 6 eps only. Enjoyable, but not gripping and just lacked something.
-
SAS Rogue Heroes. BBC 6 episodes. The story of how David Stirling formed the SAS during the Nth Africa Campaign in WW2.
Made by the guys who did Peaky Blinders.
Very entertaining. Good soundtrack. Well cast. 4.5 tonnes of sand in my orifice out of 5 don’t fuck with me’s

I felt the Ipcress File got the 60s London vibe down pretty well. Joe Cole was good and Lucy Boynton was smoking.
-
@Catogrande yeah I thought Cole was very good, as I said, I enjoyed it, but was def not fast paced.
-
any watched "Walker"? the texas ranger remake?
##spoiler
will finish the 3rd season....but im not sure i like any of the characters....and "walker" seems to exclusively work on cases to do with his family...throw them all in jail and crime in austin is cut in half

This will be interesting depending on whether it's based on Stirling's writings or on some of the other scholarship about the founding of the SAS.
Just looked and it's not streaming in Oz currently. Poos.

It’s supposedly based on the Ben McIntyre book.
