yep, like anything going in with certain expectations can alter what you think...I mean some movies you hear are slated, you avoid, others you choose to make your own mind up and more often than not will come away thinking that wasn't that bad.

Are a few posters on here who I think have similar tastes to me, so I usually give their ratings higher value, but there are some movies I will watch regardless and make my own mind up.

Nothing I like more than seeing something completely out of the ordinary that I really enjoy. Wouldn't mind catching the Breakfast Club again for example and pretty sure that has even less characters.

cant think of the name of it, but was a movie where a teacher posed an ethical question to the class about the world coming to an end, not everyone could come into the bunker to survive.

Then the movie played out like the real scene of them in the bunker and showed how it ended...first couple of scenarios was good...name escapes me and will come to me at some point as there is a review probably a hundred pages back by me....

Hands Over the City (1963).

Very good Itallian film about machine politics and zoning/building standards corruption in Napoli.

Rod Steiger is dubbed.

8/10.

During an early council meeting scene an extra catches the eye - must be 60 years old, but looks so cool as he rests his cashmere coat over the shoulders of his dark suit.

Watched Exam the other night... I'd seen it years ago but forgot how it played out.

Premise is 8 candidates for a job are in a room with 8 desks and 8 pieces of blank paper with 8 pens.

They're told they have 80 minutes after which they will be asked the answer to "the question".

The movie follows the candidates as they try to figure out what the question is.

Very cheaply done, acting isn't the best, but the screenplay is pretty good and gets you thinking.

I liked the premise. Thought it was quite well executed given the budget and actors.

Reminded me of the first time I watch Cube.

Watched Whiskey Tango Foxtrot with Tina Fey and Margot Robbie. Or more accurately they're in the movie...

It's about a journalist (Fey) recounting her wartime in Afghanistan. Well shot and scripted, with some excellent comedic timing from the cast.

Also re-watched The Revenant. It's improved in my estimation and I can see why they finally gave DiCaprio his Emmy.

This topic has got way too long, anyone mentioned Conjuring 2? It's based on the Enfield haunting, last year one of the U.K. Tv channels (I wana say Sky or maybe BBC) did their own dramatisation of it staring Timothy Spall and that scared the beejesus out of me. The Conjuring was one of the best horrors in a loooooong time in my option, had that old school feel and genuinely scared me so not sure about seeing this new one as sequels tend to go down the pan (eg paranormal activity films). The Visit was a goodun, also gave me some jumps 🙂

The Running Man (loose adaptation but still one of his).

Speaking of Richard Bachman, The Long Walk and a real adaptation of The Running Man are required.

Excellent film. Will have to see that again

On a completely different genre I saw Grimsby last night. Some very funny and disgusting scenes mixed with a hell of alot of unfunny crap. The elephant ejaculation scene was just wrong.

Yeah it is, just a short story. Guy gets some one around to now his lawn, bit weird. The lawnmower man takes his clothes off and roams around the lawn behind his seemingly possessed lawnmower. Customer freaks of course tries to call the cops, gets umm mowed..

Nothing like the shit 90's flick at all

The dark half was another great book that wasn't nearly as good as a movie

Gonna watch that tonight. SBC has made a career out of some genuine laughs with some scenes that are pretty fucked up even for our generations de-sensitized eyes so not surprised at your summary. The Dictator was pretty good humour as I recall.

Did someone mention Triple 9 on this thread and say it was better than the reviews? In my head someone did and I watched and it was.

Cracker cast, they probably went one scene too far though (the car scene with Woody for those who have seen it). Kate Winslet was funny, talking about how she was the unattractive one between her and her sister while looking pretty hot, but turns out Gal Gadot is her sister ... so fair enough.
