    Am got injured in the 3rd game of the RC and only played against Wales twice as the Boks made wholesale changes for the second test IIRC. Need a better body of work than that.

    Absolutely criminal that Stacey Fluhler was not included in these awards.

    In my view, she was the most important and influential player for the Black Ferns through out the World Cup and likely wouldn't have won without her.

    Shocked and dumbfounded that Demant was player of the match for the RWC final and again selected here.

    Need to stop shaking my head as I'm starting to get dizzy.

    WR awards are always stupid. Then they give it to someone like Thierry (for one awesome game, final) versus Kaino (for a consistent year of excellence). Beaudies second award, stupid. So I don't worry about this shit anymore. NZR have often been rubbish too

    I agree, I remember Ma’a Nonu had a stellar year for club and country in 2015 but lost out to Carter because of his moment in the WC final. Over that year Nonu had been consistently brilliant.

    Melodie Robinson 😂 ok it makes sense now if that's the calibre.

    Demante was widely praised by the NH comms and pundits for some strange reason, but it's ridiculous someone who cost the team dearly at times would be nominated ahead of someone who excelled and never went wrong.

    Best player in the world at the Mo IMHO. Disgraceful that Ardie is not on that list !!!!

    The main thing thats crystal clear is despite all the commentary about decline, lack of aura, woefulness etc of the current All Black team, thats it's still considered one hell of a scalp.

    WR basically say that Ireland have two nominees (out of 4) because of that series.

    It may be me being pissy, but those two Irish blokes are the two of the 4 that wouldn't be in my world XV. I'd have Finn Russell & Ardie over them.

    @MajorRage look, I fucking hate you for making me do this, but didn't they only make number 1 this year?

    This is all small fry compared to the major outrage here.

    21 years or these men's awards and there has never been a single nomination for a prop. If that's not discrimination against our bigger boned brethren, I don't know what is.

    0/109 nominations for props 2001-2022
    Prop = 0
    Hooker = 5
    Lock = 10
    Flanker = 25
    No 8 = 10
    Scrum-half = 11
    Fly-half = 19
    Centre = 14
    Wing = 9
    Fullback = 6

    Yeah. I'm referencing the WR statement. Here is what they said about Sexton / VDF

    " Sexton, named Player of the Year in 2018, and first-time nominee Josh van der Flier were part of the Ireland team that claimed an historic series win against the All Blacks in New Zealand."

    No mention of ranking etc. I'm not saying they are shit players. Pretty far from it. They just aren't in my World XV, whereas Dupont & Am are. I acknowledge that I may just be being pissy here as I hate Irish rugby. Everything form their style, their "recruiting", their punditry/commentary & a lot of their fans just pisses me off.

    Thats usually a sign they have a good team tbf.

    @MajorRage well duh, of course I hadn't read that. But yeah, as for the latter, we couldn't be more aligned.

    International Rugby Players Men’s Try of the Year

    • Rodrigo Fernandez (Chile, v USA on 9 July)
    • Chris Harris (Scotland, v Italy on 12 March)
    • Edoardo Padovani (Italy, v Wales on 19 March)
    • Louis Rees-Zammit (Wales, v South Africa on 2 July)

    Three counter-attacking tries that started deep inside the attacking team’s own half and one example of pure pace. Chile fly-half Rodrigo Fernandez picked up the ball just outside his 22 and then slalomed past six USA defenders before reaching the line, a feat made all the more implausible by the incredibly wet conditions. Chris Harris finished off a fine team counter-attack for Scotland against Italy, while Edoardo Padovani touched down for the Azzurri against Wales following a scintillating break from Ange Capuozzo. Louis Rees-Zammit, meanwhile, used his acceleration to leave the South African defence trailing in his wake.

    Love the Italian try, individual brilliance but then the calm to make the right play and put his teamate over. Beautiful

    That Wales try is fine, but is it really a top 5 try in the world for the year???
