surprised how so many of us are aligned, the Dutch are my traditional second team, even got a kit for the last world cup, but as mentioned...definitely want wales to make it out of the group

You should all jump into KP's WC Tipping comp.

Doesn't take a lot of effort and it does give meaningless games a bit more of a point

I have Nederlands going out to Argies in the QF

Injuries are already taking their toll on squads

The media don't seem to understand that "they" were not invited, nor that they are important, nor does Qatar give a flying rats shit about their "rights" or "feelings".

The only thing that matter to Qatar is the glory, fame and enormous cash windfall the world cup brings...And for Qatar it may not even be about the $$ as they're probably loosing $$ like crazy, it's all about the glory and fame for them.

But don't worry world media - I'm sure you'll be made to feel much more important in 4 years time when it's hosted in Russia.

I can't find an emoji of someone feebly clutching to a doorframe whilst braying like a donkey so I guess I'll have to type it instead.

    the last one was Russia

The next one is North America

Party pooper, you spoiled his ‘narrative’

My narrative that I'm not surprised (as I apparently should be) that a draconian county is acting draconian?

Yep he sure blew that narrative out of the water.

@Windows97 we can be appalled and unsurprised, reportedly more than 6000 deaths of migrant workers since being awarded the WC is appalling

    Can't make an omelette etc.

Message me if you want to take part - @dogmeat @Hooroo of TSF are already in.

I'll follow the football just because it is a month with no football otherwise. Really hard to pick a winner given there are plenty of good teams that all have weaknesses and no idea how conditions will affect the games. Suspect a lot of the games will be very dull (I mean tactical)

Most obvious bait and switch ever, they've re-banned beer in stadia, after earlier saying they'd allow it (when fans were booking trips)

    This great.

While it seemed crazy back in 2010, a "where are they now" is still amazing to read.

Blatter to Beckham: who was in the room when Qatar got the World Cup

Vladimir Putin and Boris Johnson also feature as we select key people and look at what has happened to them since

    These ones the best:

David Beckham … Then Ambassador for English bid. Declared himself “disgusted” by bidding process that saw Qatar awarded 2022 tournament. Now Ambassador for Qatar.

Vladimir Putin … Then Russia’s prime minister. Now Invaded Crimea, used chemical weapons on British soil, started land war in Ukraine. Lauded nonetheless by Gianni Infantino who declared during a 2018 order of friendship ceremony at the Kremlin that the world was “in love” with Russia.

"The world was "in love" with russia" 🤣🤣🤣😂🤣🤣🙄
