Inspirational is an over-used term, but def. not in this case.

He just never gave up, did he? What a bloke.

    Classic stuff.

Really funny bloke and a hell of a player. Any Scottish Lion of that era was.

Two tries against the ABs in the quarter final in 95 as well. Brilliant.

Seeing him lately it was pretty obvious this was just round the corner. What a horrible disease.

    RIP big fella

Slightly off topic but clips like these make me annoyed at what a funny likeable guy Will Carling is. I always wanted to hate him so much as a player.

Played in that magical 1996 Scotland-AB game at Carisbrook as well. Deserves a mention.

He’ll be remembered as a character mainly but he was also a really, really good player.

This is a really nice obituary.

Sad to think that Scotlands two best forwards of the 90s aren’t with us anymore.

He and Cronin were an outstanding pair as good as anyone in their era. I'll remember him for that as well as his MND battle

Doddie’s fund raising red. Made by Schalk Burger. Great story.

That woulda been 1990. He was a midweeker then if memory serves. Skinny as fuck initially even for that era !

Less said about the beer the better.

What kind of beer do you usually have here?

……and to be fair it’s certainly not like Scotland is known for it’s wonderful beer……

    Or weather/food/people/humour…….I could go on.

I do like a good 80 Shilling or Wee Heavy. It's when they try to make non Scottish styles that the pish is pish.
And the weather is great (on average two days a year)
